I'm the guy that emailed it in, here's some details from the
show.
-I took part in the Fan Interaction before the show, and can
happily say it was a lot better organized than last year's
effort. The eight superstars involved in the signings were ODB,
James Storm, Samoa Joe, Mr Anderson, Austin Aries, Velvet Sky,
Robbie E and Jessie. All of them were in seemingly great moods!
1: Eric Young, Joseph Parks and RTE Presenter Ivan Minnock def.
Ethan Carter III and Rockstar Spud
-This match wasn't technically amazing but it was a nice way to
start the show. Very funny match with Spud playing the cowardly
heel and Carter bossing him around. Ivan did little to add to
the match, but this seemed to suit the crowd fine.
2: ODB and Madison Rayne def. Lei'd Tapa and Gail Kim. Special
Ref: Velvet Sky
-Jeremy Borash announced the special referee for the match to be
Velvet Sky, and she made her entrance to a huge pop. Lei'd Tapa
and Gail Kim followed to a round of somewhat-weak heat. This was
one of the better Knockout matches I've seen from a house show,
mainly because it was given more than 4-5 minutes! The crowd was
solidly behind it from start to finish, with one audience member
even shouting his number out to Velvet Sky.
3: Gunner def. Bobby Roode
-Before this match, I wasn't a fan of Gunner. I can safely say
he has converted me, as he was well able to hold his own
against, in my opinion, one of TNA's greatest stars. He won with
a roll up, and after the match Roode beat him down. This led to
Kurt Angle coming out for the save, throwing Roode out of the
ring and then grabbing the mic to thank the Dublin crowd for
supporting TNA.
4: Austin Aries def. Chris Sabin & Samoa Joe to retain the
X-Division Championship
-In technical wrestling terms, this was match of the night.
Could easily have been on TV, the quality was superb. Some cool
spots met with phenomenal crowd participation.
5: BroMans with Zema Ion def. Bad Influence to retain the World
Tag Team Championships
-Zema Ion came out to roaring boos, and started getting cheap
heat by insulting Dublin and talking up the BroMans "physiques".
He introduced the BroMans and they began hyping themselves as
the "best tag team of all time", and how there was nobody left
for them to beat. They then said instead of a title match, they
were going to pose. Bad Influence came out to a big pop, and
challenged them for the titles, claiming they have never been
beaten by the BroMans. This lead to a decent match, with the
BroMans getting the win followed by consistent interference and
distractions from Zema.
6: Magnus def. James Storm to retain the World Heavyweight
Championship
-Dixie introduced Magnus who, naturally, came out to massive
heat. James Storm got one of the biggest pops of the night. At
the start of the match, Storm had hit Magnus with a closed fist.
This lead Magnus to escape and grab a mic and order Brian Hebner
to give Storm his first official public warning. He then tried
to force the crowd to listen to the British National Anthem -
but Storm decided to play a different song, "Shipping Up To
Boston" by the Dropkick Murphys. This got a standing ovation
from the crowd and as Storm went to pose on a turnbuckle he was
blindsided by Magnus. The match was fairly back and forth before
Magnus got the win following interference from Ethan Carter III
and Rockstar Spud.
-Post match; Spud took Storm's beer and was parading in the
ring. He took a sip of beer and turned around to be met by a
Last Call Superkick from Storm, spitting the beer into the air
as he fell backwards. Huge pop from the crowd!
7: Mr Anderson def. Bully Ray in a tables match.
-Anderson got a huge crowd pop. He controlled the majority of
the match and there were many hilarious moments between him and
the crowd. Ray put his boot through a table after Anderson
countered a move, which led to Hebner telling Anderson somebody
had to be forced through a table. More brawling and hilarity
from Anderson until ultimately Green Bay Plunging Ray into a
second table. He then gave segments of the broken table to a
lucky fan.
Overall, this was the best wrestling event I've been to, and I
sincerely can't wait for TNA to return next year! I've no decent
photos yet, so if anyone has any please add them to the thread!
