Wrestle Kingdom 8 Full Card Anounced Janurary 4th Tokyo Dome
By: SheriffLonestar Date: December 12, 2013, 5:54 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
The annual Tokyo Dome show on the fourth of January is gearing
up to be possibly the card of the year four days into 2014.
1. IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Title – 4WAY Match: Matt
Jackson & Nick Jackson (c) vs. KUSHIDA & Alex Shelley vs. TAKA
Michinoku & Taichi vs. Rocky Romero & Alex Koslov
The Young Bucks plan to make it another 12 months of tag team
dominance as they put their first defense against The Time
Splitters, Suzukigun's TAKA and Taichi and the Forever
Hooligans.
2. IWGP Tag Team Title: Lance Archer & Davey Boy Smith Jr. (c)
vs. Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows
Doc and The Machine Gun trade in their World Tag League
tournament win into a an IWGP Tag Team title shot and hope to
take the gold away from Suzukiguns Killer Elite Squad. The
Bullet Club want more gold. 5 of the best and most established
teams in the world, appear in the first two matches.
3. NWA World Heavyweight Title: Rob Conway (c) vs. Satoshi
Kojima
Koji takes a break from tagging with Hiroshi Tenzan to challenge
for the ten pounds of gold of Rob Conway and add a world title
to his list of accomplishments.
4. Special Tag Match: Yuji Nagata & Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Daniel
Gracie & Rolles Gracie
A special tag match between two of NJPW's hardest hitters and
two members of the Gracie clan, this should be an interesting to
say the least match, and a nod to the old school style of
Antonio Inoki, look for some explosive mat work in this one.
5. Special Tag Match: Minoru Suzuki & Shelton Benjamin vs. Toru
Yano & X
Suzukigun's leader and his right hand man Shelton Benjamin are
going to have a hard time with Yano and X, but should be an
entertaining battle none the less.
6. King of Destroyer Match: Togi Makabe vs. King Fale
Makabe and Fale have been having on and off again relations in
the wider Bullet Club vs the world feud at the moment, they
finally get their hands on each other at Wrestle Kingdom.
7. Special Singles Match – Hirooki Goto Return Match: Hirooki
Goto vs. Katsuyori Shibata
The 34 year old Hirooki Goto makes his return to NJPW on the
biggest card of the year after breaking his jaw during the G1
Climax tournament in August. He was leading block A at the time
and had a pinfall win over Kazuchi Okada, so we will see how it
will play out for him long term.
8. IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title: Prince Devitt (c) vs. Kota
Ibushi
Devitt vs Ibushi, possibly the best two Junior Heavyweights in
the world, this will be everything it is cracked up to be and if
you have friends who are doubtful about Japanese wrestling show
them this when you will be able to find it on youtube.
9. Double Main Event I – IWGP Heavyweight Title: Kazuchika
Okada (c) vs. Tetsuya Naito
The fans decided by phone vote that this would be the semi main
event, and is possibly down to Naito's build not coming off
quite as well as it should. Okada who is supposed to be the
natural heel in this match is way to popular to for Naito to
compete with in the popularity stakes, but it will give the
young challenger a lift regardless of the outcome, prove he can
hang with The Rainmaker on the biggest stage of all, and that is
him set for life in NJPW.
10. Double Main Event II – IWGP Intercontinental Title:
Shinsuke Nakamura (c) vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi
Nakamura and Tanahashi have their third go round in the main
event of The Dome, this time for the Intercontinental
Championship and if it is anything like the last two times it
will deliver in spades.
