What wrestling star do you think was the best that has never won
a major title?

My pick for best wrestler to never win a major title would be
Billy Robinson. I don't know how major the title of
"Commonwealth Champion" is but he had never won the AWA, NWA or
WWWF titles.

Billy did win the PWF title which was All Japan's top belt
beating Tor Kamata in June 1978 and dropping it to Abdullah The
Butcher 11 days later, that was his only major title run though
sadly.
And I guess we should say what constitutes a world title Robert.
I say NWA, AWA, WWE, IWGP, Triple Crown and TNA World Titles if
thats fair with you? In which case I would say Dick Murdoch
would have made a great NWA Champion and probably should have
won the title at its peak. Roddy Piper would have made so much
money as world Champion, however it was clear he didn't need the
title to stay over and he would be the first to admit he wasn't
a great wrestler he was a great talker. I would have to say Arn
Anderson on that list to, he was always in Flair's shadow and
knew his place, but I think he would have been great as NWA
Champ in the Kayfabe era. Possibly one of the best potential
champions who never was would have been David Von Erich.
Sorry I can't just pull it down to one lol. Its tricky when you
look at the different companies and guys who didn't quite make
it.

I would like to see Christopher Daniels win the World
Heavyweight Title at TNA one day. I know he has won Tag Team
belts and probably won the X-Division title a few times, in
previous years as he joined TNA at the beginning, but he still
hasn't won the heavyweight title, to my knowledge.

[/quote]I admit I know nothing about the Japanese Alliances and
not too familiar about the Mexican alliances. This is why I
mentioned AWA, NWA, WWF, WWE and TNA. Also not sure what the
British Commonwealth Title represented but I know Robinson held
that title. Could someone from U.K. explain to me what the
Commonwealth championship consisted of. Thank you.

Okay there are several versions of that title, the one I think
your thinking of was the AWA version which was largely contested
in Canada. I know that Billy spent a lot of time in Stampede
which would make sense to have him as senior champion especially
as an occasional visitor rather than a permanent fixture. My Dad
(whose been a wrestling fan for fifty years) did see him defend
the AWA version of the belt in the UK on trips home.
That title's history is here;

There are two other versions of the title, one promoted by Joint
which was retired when Count Bartelli (the great British Masked
wrestler) retired. That's here;

And finally the most recent version of the belt used by
Hammerlock NWA in the UK and other European NWA affiliates here;

Linda Chris has been the nearly man in every major promotion he
has worked in, he has won many independent titles though. He was
a big draw in Britain's biggest promotion of the 2000's the FWA.
I think though it maybe to late for him to get to the world
title in any of the majors.
