Word of the Day - Heat

From Wikipedia:
In professional wrestling, heat refers to both crowd reaction
and real-life animosity between those involved in the
professional wrestling business. In terms of crowd reaction,
heat is usually either cheers for a babyface or boos for a heel.
The amount of heat a wrestler generates is often an accurate
gauge of his popularity.
Although the term can in some contexts refer to either positive
or negative crowd reactions, "heat" can otherwise be used
specifically to mean a negative crowd response (booing etc.);
its opposite being a "pop" or positive reaction (cheering etc.).
Heat can also mean "to have heat" as in Jesse Sorenson has heat
with Dixie Carter because she is mad with him (the most
immediate example). There are many different kinds of heat and
heat changes depending on where you are.
Japanese heat has changed over the years. From the 40's to the
70's Japanese fans who where then mostly male clapped politely
at the end of the match or particularly exciting series of
moves. With the birth of Hulkamania and more so with The Crush
Girls, Japanese fans began to open up.
White heat, or extreme heat rarely occurs in the modern
wrestling world. Shane Douglas received White Heat during his
ECW feud with The Pitbulls after breaking Gary Wolfe's neck and
then taunting him over it throughout his recovery and eventually
attacking him by shaking him by his supportive halo. The
Dudley's received whit heat during their feud with Tommy Dreamer
thanks to profanity laced promos usually accusing women in the
audience of being morally lax. White Heat is virtually
impossible to recreate in the modern era, partly due to the lack
of kayfabe and partly due to PG nature of the product. Zeb
Colter has become the first person in a long time to get
anywhere near white heat in the last few years.
X Pac Heat, named after the aforementioned X Pac has gone to
wrestlers who are just hated, not because they are heel
performers, but just thoroughly unlikeable characters and refers
to X Pac's WWE Run upon his return from WCW.
