       Word of the Day - Job, to Job, Jobbers.

       It occurs to me that not everyone is full versed in wrestling
       slang and so in an occasional series I shall put some
       definitions up to explain things that I may have seen and give a
       greater understanding of this business we love.
       From Wikipedia;
       In professional wrestling slang, the term job describes a losing
       performance in a wrestling match. It is derived from the
       euphemism "doing one's job", which was employed to protect
       kayfabe. The term can be used a number of ways. When a wrestler
       is booked, or scripted, to lose a match it is described as "a
       job." The act itself is described with the verb jobbing, while
       the act of booking (rather than being booked) to job is called
       jobbing out. To lose a match fairly (meaning without any kayfabe
       rules being broken) is to job cleanly. Wrestlers who routinely
       lose matches are known as jobbers.
       True jobbers really do not exist anymore, though it is still
       possible to get jobbed out. A true Job is where a wrestler is
       thoroughly beaten. So if someone loses an even contest they are
       not a jobber, nor have the done a job, they just lost. If they
       are beaten easily in three minutes then they are jobbing.
       Another alternate phrase would be "to Squash".

       Wouldn't the idea of being a jobber be "someone who gets beat
       all the time?" Wrestlers like Robbie E, Joey Ryan, and Joseph
       Park. Yes they do win occaisionally but most of the time they
       will lose their matches.

       But they are not jobbers per se, they get some offense in before
       the inevitable. A better term for them would be "Jobber to the
       Stars".
