You may have guessed this weeks topic of discussion.
Colt Cabana has been building a reputation as one of the hardest
working guys in this or any other business and it comes from a
pure love of wrestling. The reason why I say he has a right to
the moniker Best in the World comes from his pure dedication to
       a) pro wrestling b) making a living.
Colt started off in wrestling as a fan, he loved WWE and ECW
growing up, his first appearance on PPV was throwing worked
punches at Road Warrior Hawks back at a WWE PPV in the mid
nighties. Wanting to be a wrestler he signed up for football at
college (Western Michigan State) upon taking the advice of Jim
Ross. Not in person, just taking the understanding of being a
football player would lead him onto better things like Stan
Hansen, JBL and Bruiser Brody before him.
Upon graduating college he joined the Steel Domain wrestling
school alongside one CM Punk (the most notable claimant to the
BITW title). Chicago and the mid west generally being a hot bed
for indy wrestling at the time Cabana and Punk where well
placed, Austin Aries and ODB both come out of Minnesota and the
same era of wrestling. Colt's name became intertwined with Punk
as running buddies and friends but also as opponents. They
feueded on Indie cards all over the world including the York
Hall, Bethnal Green, but it was as a team they had their first
viewable success. The Second City Saints team, Punk, Colt and
trainer Ace Steel became a hit in Ring of Honor's early days and
so on the spiral went. IWA brought them in as the "wrestling
crew" alongside Chris Hero and other indie stars to lighten the
load on the Hardcore Warriors that where making their product
seem a little one dimensional. Their legend grew.
Of course as you know Punk went on to WWE and a developmental
deal, Colt wasn't far behind though and spent two years spinning
his wheels in OVW and eventually spinning them even faster in
WWE. WWE was essentially a disaster for Colt but it taught him
some valuable lessons. Firstly he learnt the value of
production, he also learned that relationships are paramount in
developing your career. So when he was given his release he had
       a plan.
       1) Move back to Chicago
       2) Wrestle Johnny Saint
As business plans go this was kinda simple (except when you
realise that Johnny Saint was in his late 60's and long into
retirement). That plan driven by the frustration of his WWE
release also led him to build a multi media empire, different
characters and to truly become Wrestling's most original Post
Modernist. He developed new characters for different markets.
The aging veteran Mat Classic, the heel Officer Colt Cabana. his
Art of Wrestling podcast is a must listen for wrestling fans,
his performances for Chikara, NOAH and various NWA affiliates
have been outstanding from an entertainment and wrestling point
of view. He has reached a zenith I didn't think was possible in
this modern era of Pro Wrestling. He has become "THE BIG DRAW".
Like Andre The Giant before him he makes a living going from to
town to town world wide boosting attendances and delivering a
lesson in the world of Pro Wrestling. You don't need the WWE, or
TNA. You need a work ethic and effort but it can be done.
Actually maybe the Andre comparison is a little off, he is
closer to Harley Race, both as a former five time NWA Worlds
Heavyweight Champion and as a touring monster that everyone
       wants.
Since leaving the NWA (on principal, the new board of directors
where going in a more commercial direction he didn't like) he
has been tearing up the Indies again. He is living proof of the
eclecticism of wrestling, that you can be a jack of all trades,
World of Sport Style, Mat work, Lucha, comedy, brawling and be a
draw combining and learning from every style. He is held in high
esteem by veterans the world over as the true holder of the
flame (the aforementioned Saint who came out of retirement to
wrestle him and the legendary Mark Rocco are but two fans). So
here you have this weeks pick, Colt Cabana King of the Indies
and ambassador for Pro Wrestling World Wide.
Enjoy the show. Colt is in match 4 of this Global Tag League
       Final from NOAH.

Colt Cabana done's not need WWE to make a name for his self. He
is doing it all on his own

What do you call the best in the world ? Is it someone who can
pick up a car or is it some one who can jump off the top of a
       cage .
So much to put out their before you can think of who is the best
       on the world.
Cm punk is not yes he is good on the mic and can get the fans to
love him or hate him , but bully ray can do that too so done's
that make him the best in the world ????
Then you have taker and HBK who put on five star matches back in
the day but you never sew taker jumping off the top of a cage
like you do with jeff hardy who is not one of the best height
flyers out there but he will fit it all to but on a match...
Kurt angle the only wrestler to be a gold medal holder so that
must make him the best in the world right ????
Still none of them are the best in the world
