Ten Former WWE stars who did not make it in TNA.
DIR By: tnafan

---------------------------------------------------------
TNA has some great wrestlers, the likes of AJ Styles, Bobby
Roode, Austin Aries and many more. One thing that usually
doesn't work is when a WWE Superstar makes the decision to join
TNA.
TNA has shown a tendency to take some of the WWE's released
mid-card wrestlers rather than build some of their own talent.
There are a few notable exceptions to this rule with Kurt Angle,
Gail Kim and Christian being major successes within the second
biggest wrestling company in the US.
For the success of Angle, Christian and Kim, there have been
many failures and this list will look at superstars who haven't
had much to like in TNA.
Christian and Angle both had WWE success, but Christian became a
star of TNA while Angle continues to give impressive matches for
the company.
The list i have done is in no particular order enjoy and
remember to do your list too .. :)
Number 10
When Booker T first joined TNA, he was given a big welcome, and
he was built up as a legend.
Sadly, he would go on to mediocrity with the company, becoming a
member of the Main Event Mafia and suffering behind Sting and
Kurt Angle in the group.
Booker didn't win the TNA World Title but did create his own
'Legends' title which is still used today but was re-branded the
Television title.
Booker T should have been a big draw as he is widely respected
within the industry, but he was a bit past his best and wasn't
given a big enough push.
Booker is the five-time WCW champion but the zero-time TNA
champion and therefore his time in TNA can bee seen as a failure
for him and the company.
Number 9
Mike Knox had a decent run with the WWE, but the issue I have
with him joining TNA is why do they want him rather than has it
bettered his career.
Now known as Knux, he has become a bit of a background character
in the Aces & Eights group that are terrorising TNA.
The character hasn't really been established as Knox is behind
the likes of Devon, Bully Ray, Mr. Anderson, Doc and D'Lo Brown
in the pecking order.
In the WWE, Knox was a member of team Rated-RKO against Team DX
at Survivor Series, towards the end of his WWE reign, he wasn't
heavily featured and his career in TNA doesn't appear to be
going very far.
Knox is a large guy and could be used in a monster role, I think
TNA fans might enjoy a monster feud with Abyss but given his
current standing and Abyss' recent return, it doesn't seem very
likely.
Number 8
Scott Hall is a wrestling legend and will be remembered for his
time in WCW as one of The Outsiders and a key founder of the
NWO.
His role in the WWE as Razor Ramon will also be remembered, and
his role in the WWE NWO less fondly remembered.
Scott Hall actually joined TNA four times, most recently
following the debut of Hulk Hogan where Hall, Kevin Nash and
X-Pac were still playing the same roles almost 14 years later as
'The Band'.
'The Band' storyline has been over played, but TNA decided that
they would give the trio one last shot despite the WWE failure.
Hall's personal demons meant he was not the star we all loved
and should probably have been avoided by TNA management, but he
was signed four times rather than the better option of none.
Number 7
Matt Hardy is the less successful half of The Hardy Boyz both in
the WWE and in TNA, but his run in TNA was awful.
Hardy was a former tag team, US and ECW champion in the WWE and
when his brother Jeff decided to jump to TNA, Matt asked for and
was granted his released.
Matt Hardy became a member of Immortal, which was slightly
overcrowded, but this wasn't the reason for his TNA failure.
Matt Hardy was released from TNA after he was arrested for DUI
and his personal life spiraled out of control.
Arguably, his brother Jeff could be considered a failure
following the infamous Victory Road debacle but he has recovered
well from the incident and become a key face of the company.
Number 6
Rob Van Dam has been a success in the WWE and ECW but not so
much in his stint with TNA.
He had quite an odd debut which gave him a 20-seconds-or-so win
against Sting followed by a beat down with a baseball bat.
He may have been the 'Whole F'n Show' in the WWE and ECW but in
TNA, the best of Rob Van Dam didn't really show.
RVD was given a push and became the world champion, but his run
in TNA saw him slowly fall down the roster and become a
mid-carder.
RVD has aged and his high-flying style is affected by the loss
of speed and athleticism and it seems RVD will never get near
the TNA World Title again.
Van Dam was the TNA X Division champion for a while, but he lost
to Kenny King and it appears his career at TNA may have come to
an end, but he is still on the TNA Roster page.
Number 5
Ric Flair joined TNA along with Hulk Hogan on what was set to be
a historic day in TNA history, while it was historic, it wasn't
for good reasons.
Ric Flair had recently retired from the WWE in an emotional
farewell; he lost to Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania and was
given a special goodbye from the WWE superstars.
However, Flair joined TNA and wrestled a few times despite being
in his 60s! Flair should not have wrestled in TNA.
The Nature Boy was unhappy with TNA, as shown in the video, and
I doubt very highly that TNA were too happy with Flair.
TNA then didn't really know what to do with this legend and he
became a judge for the new 'Gut Check' segments, but his time in
TNA was up and he left to re-join the WWE.
Number 4
Bobby Lashley was pushed by the WWE, but I think they realised
that Lashley was a big man with little talent in the ring.
In TNA, Lashley competed for less than a year, feuding with the
likes of Kurt Angle and Scott Steiner during his time.
Lashley just didn't work for TNA and given his size isn't
believable as a face, but that's how TNA used him largely.
He is a former two-time ECW champion and United States champion
with the WWE but failed to win any TNA gold.
Lashley left TNA in a rather odd way, as he was begging to be
released before changing his mind and then getting fired.
He left TNA to focus on his MMA career, which to this point has
been largely unsuccessful, too.
Number 3
Orlando Jordan was JBL's Chief of Staff in WWE and become the US
champion, defeating John Cena for the title.
Jordan's time in the WWE wasn't majorly successful, but his time
in TNA managed to be even worse.
His slightly odd character came out wearing police tape and his
character was essentially bisexual, which probably isn't enough
to base a character on.
Orlando was in TNA for just over a year; Jordan's best moment
with the company was beating TNA legend Samoa Joe.
He was teamed with Eric Young in a comedy tag team but his
career in TNA ended with no titles and slight embarrassment from
all sides.
Number 2
When The Nasty Boys joined TNA they were old, unfit and couldn't
really wrestle, yet someone at TNA decided they would be a great
fit.
They joined TNA in 2010 along with Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff
at what was supposed to be the revival of the Monday Night Wars.
It wasn't.
The Nasty Boys won the tag team titles with the old WWF, but
they achieved little with TNA in this poor and unnecessary
stint.
And the number one is
One of the most recognisable wrestlers of all time following his
runs in WCW and WWE and a wrestling legend.
A multiple world champion, a film star, a founding member of the
NWO, a reality TV star, but in TNA, not a success.
Hulk Hogan joined TNA and in 2010 was intent on making a
statement, putting the TNA show head-to-head with the WWE's
flagship show RAW.
This didn't work and eventually TNA went back to their Thursday
slot and many of the wrestlers who debuted on that Monday were
soon out of a job.
Hogan was supposed to be a big draw and attract a larger
audience for TNA but it just hasn't happened and TNA hasn't
really improved following Hogan's debut.
One issue is his age. He is too old to compete, although that
didn't stop TNA allowing him to and therefore he offers only a
big name.
Hogan seems to steal the limelight and none of the superstars
are given as much attention as the Hulkster.
So who is yours then tell us at the links:)

My list is and my reason why
Jeff hardy this was a Big risk what could of Put TNA out of Biss
Jeff Hardy was On drugs and drinking all the time but yet TNA
was letting him be in the main event and pushing him to the
moon. Also the match with Sting was not the first time Jeff
Hardy messed up at a PPV..( this is the old Jeff Hardy)
Ric Flair . Well he is all about money and was just in TNA for
money , he did not respect TNa and was fast to jump back to WWE
with out thinking about TNA .. Also he did not stick to the
story's and did what ever he wanted to do .. I remember him not
turning up to house shows and everyone remembers the gutcheck
mess up he made..
Nasty Boys .. Right what can I say about them , they was a wast
of money time and the only reason they got a run in TNA is
because of hogan. WWE will NEVER take them on so hogan was
giving them one last TV run in TNA what was crap and just a let
down ..
Taz .... For me there was no need to bring him in TNA had a good
team who could do there job and the way they did it was just a
lot of hot water over not
Chavo Guerrero.... Well where do I start with this TNA was
bigging him up and then just put him in a team .. For me it was
a wast of a singing and for them to make it a big thing then not
use him to the best of his skills.
RVD for me the same reason why you put him on your list
Can only think of six now .. Hum what other WWE stars have been
in TNA then ?

personally i think the categorization of wrestlers is stupid.
for the very reason that if a wrestler doesnt work somewhere
they surely have to work in another company they wont just
simply retire. of the companies i know about theres wwe, tna,
roh, njpw, noah, chikara, cmll, AAA, cant name many more than
that. most wrestlers looking at that list could well think to
themselves "japan great wrestling but i want to be in america
and mexico just isnt for me. roh, chikara are fine small
companies but again not for me".
now since wwe's schedule is what it is i dont see too many
wrestlers doing 5 years straight without a break. which their
top guys can take when they please like punk is doing atm. but
for the rest i only see 1 option for them if they want to
continue to wrestle. from tna's point of view take a look at
their recent gutcheck challenge they've been running online. lot
of good indie wrestlers they could sign for sure. but compared
to some ex wwe names how many know about them?
in terms of drawing ratings a lot of what ppl in tna say i think
is things they have to say to the media even if they dont
believe it eg hogan. as it stands atm wrestling industry
interest is down. so theres only so much tna can do.

that is very true a lot of the stars come to TNa for a break
away from WWE because they are on the road all the time ...

That is kind of the point though, yes you need veterans but they
shouldn't be the meat of the show. Not when you have home grown
talent. Bringing a guy in is a quick fix, not a long term
solution, and route and branch reform is whats needed.
If you look at the current TNA roster you have to look at it
like the NFL General Managers are looking at Quarterbacks right
now; Well I have this 6 year veteran whose veteran who is a okay
passer and is still mobile and is costing me 16 million a season
whose up for free agency, or I could have this guy fresh out of
college who won the Heisman and was leader of a second rank
team. He will only cost 1.3 Million a year (because of the
salary cap) which would you have? Well I'm taking the rookie and
moulding him into a leader, It may take a while but my veteran
line will look after him and next year the money I saved will
bring in some good rookie supports at wide receiver.
Its the same in wrestling, we can have the veterans who cost a
lot for star power, but the long term strategy has to be the
younger guys.
