Check out what I just read on yahoo.co.uk big news for the
       football word
Michael Higdon was crowned PFA Scotland Player of the Year on
       Sunday night
Motherwell striker Michael Higdon has been arrested over an
alleged assault hours after being crowned PFA Scotland Player of
       the Year.
The 29-year-old from Liverpool was held in connection with an
incident at a Glasgow nightclub in the early hours of Monday
morning. He received his award at a ceremony at the Hilton hotel
       on Sunday night.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "A 29-year-old man is the
subject of a report to the procurator fiscal in connection with
an alleged assault at a nightclub in Ingram Street in Glasgow at
       1.25am today."
A press conference with Higdon, due to take place at 8.30am on
Monday, had been cancelled at short notice.
Higdon won the award voted for by his peers ahead of Leigh
Griffiths of Hibernian, Andrew Shinnie of Inverness and Aberdeen
       forward Niall McGinn.
The absence of any players from runaway Clydesdale Bank Premier
League champions Celtic from the awards shortlist had caused
controversy, with Hoops boss Neil Lennon describing the
       situation as "abysmal".
Higdon is the SPL's top scorer this year, having netted 26 goals
       for Stuart McCall's side.
The player, who arrived from St Mirren in the summer of 2011,
now holds Motherwell's post-war record for league goals scored.
It is understood he was released from police custody earlier on
       Monday.
Higdon has described the season as the "best of his career" and
credited his success to "confidence, playing in a good team and
having a manager who believes in me".
