Final Score

Lucs 10 - 10 Titans
Roth equalised at the last play, Minogue took the kick and the
flags went up. Then Lucs players said the ball didn't go over,
the Ref agreed ?.
IF THE FLAGS WENT UP, THEN ???
We'll have to wait and see

Big call that. Could cost us promotion. I remember Pez getting
one over at wuss which was disallowed and cost us the match. Ref
took no notice of protest there.

Would have loved to have taken the win there. Dropped points
again, not great for a promotion chasing season. However, Lucs
seem to be very strong at home and have taken some great scalps
at their place.
Interesting decision, very rare to hear about that sort of
thing. Can we appeal the decision?
Not good to hear about a red card. Player costing us points
again just like at Fylde. We really can't afford it with our
goal of promotion. Hull in the Driving seat and Sedgley closing
in. They demolished Fylde away today.... Stourbridge battered
Harrogate.
Onto next week. If we loose then we might well be out of the
title race. Did we have kickable penalties that we didn't take
in this game?

We did miss a penalty and a conversion but with such a strong
wind you can't fault the kicker.
We did mess up a couple of 5m lineouts which could have made a
difference.
No idea what caused the sending off but it didn't help.

I think it is looking very much like Hull will win the league.
They are not slipping up and winning games at a canter. After
that it gets interesting between us, sedgeley and Stourbridge
for the second spot. However Sedgeley put down a marker today
by demolishing Fylde - a match we should have won easily really.
Stourbridge defeated Harrogate easily - a team we struggled
with. The next two weeks will be significant 2 wins and then we
have to hope Hull lose another. one win - a tough battle for
second. I don't want to consider 2 defeats so I wont!!
Interesting day - what was the red card for and was it
justified? Then the allowed / disallowed conversion - did it
look over and di we protest? these are the small margins that
will make a big difference at the end. discipline will be key.

Games Pts
HULL 20 89
ROTH 19 79
SEDGE 19 79
STOUR 19 77
FYLDE 21 76
NEXT WEEK = HULL V HARRO, ROTH V STOUR, SEDGE V HULL
I's, FYLDE V BOURN
Looking at the Table and the rest of the games, for all the
Clubs, this session, it looks imperative that we Win our next
two games, STOUR (H) and HULL (A).
Was today's game 2 pts gained or 2 pts lost, only the
Supporters who were there can say. We brought the game back to
10 - 10, but the Ref awarded us 3 or 4 Penalties on Luctonians
line as they kept stopping our Forwards drive illegally. Should
we have been awarded a Penalty Try ?. That would have given us
the Winning score, 7 instead of 5.
Would we have been awarded the PT if there were 30mins left to
play ?. For how long did we play after Dunne had been sent off
?. Couldn't have been easy.
It will be an interesting game to watch on Tuesday night.

I read on rolling maul that someone may have a video of the
final kick. Whether or not that can be used I don't know but I
would hope we try make an appeal against the final decision.
Time to pick ourselves up and treat these next two games as
world cup finals.
I fear that any more dropped points will mean us dropping out of
the title race. Very tight race for second place.
After the next two games we have to finish the season strong. We
need to collect as many bonus points as possible to keep us up
there.
If we beat Hull and Stour then we have a good chance of
promotion. I just fear todays result, the loss at Fylde and
drawing with Bournville might have cost us.
Tough league this, little to no room for dropped points if you
are chasing promotion.
Now would be a good time to get our lads re signed for next
season. I still also think it is time for Jamie Cooke to get his
chance at Inside Centre.

Conditions were very poor. They coped with them better than us,
especially the kicking out of hand. They also got a few nice
bounces and gusts of wind.
Having said that, at half time it looked pretty bleak; 5-0 down,
down to 14 for the duration and it had been a pretty dismal
first half. So to come back from the dead with 14 men was a
commendable achievement. A few minutes from the end Lucs looked
favourites. Then we pressed and pressed - had to take standing
taps at the penalties because the wind made the line out very
unpredictable. They gave away penalty after penalty with no sign
of a card for them. And then we scored the try to level it with
time up.
Nobody managed to score with a kick all game. On Matt Minogue's
previous attempt, his standing foot went altogether and he ended
up on his back. He had to keep it low because of the wind even
though it was close. I thought it went under the bar but both
touch judges raised their flags so I thought we had won it. But
the the ref overruled them. It didn't look to me as though their
player grounded properly for the first try either, but that got
awarded
So a draw better than a loss. No lack of effort, that's for
sure. So well done all.

Luctonians have posted the following on their Facebook account :
Lucs 10 v 10 Titans
Try from the visitors levels the score. The conversion was
indicated by both ARs raising their flags, but overruled by Ref
as the ball actually went under the crossbar, in the final play.

I have now received the following response courtesy of
Luctonians RFC
The confusion on our Social Media was simply because both ARs
raised their flags, and on that the score was reported. However,
your reporter was not aware that one of the ARs thought it was
under and the Ref did not allow the conversion. This was also
supported by other observers. Apparently, the kicker's
compensation for the head-on strong wind, torpedoed as the gust
abated. No shame on the kicker as the conditions were atrocious.
