Another good win. We seem to be formidable after half time. I
wasn’t too impressed with the ref.
When did we last run in a try ? There’s a lack of pace.
Why were the mauls moving laterally rapidly following our throw
in ?
Onwards and upwards.

Definitely agree regarding the lack of pace. We just don't seem
to have that zip in the backline, there's nobody that seems to
be able to slice (or step) through any gaps, and with teams like
Hull the gaps are few and far between so you need to take full
advantage. You just never feel that when the ball gets spun out,
that we might score.

I also agree regarding the lack of pace. We seem to be spending
a lot of energy in the backs but not really going anywhere. I
would love to see Lloyd Hayes get his chance at 13 when players
return from injury. We have some powerful, abrasive backs but
it's no good if they aren't running on to the ball and being put
into the right areas. There were a few times we had clear
overlaps on Saturday but seemed to go the opposite way and keep
it tight.
Now, we might be backing our forwards this season to drive us
through and play a more Andre Bester type of game, at the moment
it is working and if it's not broke don't fix it etc. However
this wont be enough for National 1 where the rugby is very
balanced.
Do we have a backs coach this season? If not, it might be
interesting to give one of our more experienced backs to take
the reins of the attacking play and give the backs a bit more
structure to work from!
This is a tough, tough league. Far stronger than I thought so we
will have to be on it every game of this season. 1 or 2 slip ups
and that might be it!
