Roth Vs Sale FC Pre Season Friendly

I couldn't make it over the Pennines this afternoon
unfortunately but I am hoping to get to the Leeds game.
Was anyone at the game today that can give us an update on how
we looked?

No it doesn't make for good reading. First game back after a
long lay off, new players etc. However we will need to pull it
together quickly if we are going to gain promotion!

I went and it all just looked very disjointed, clearly the lads
need more time together. Defence was non-existent almost, with
Sale just ghosting through our backline as if they weren't
there. Some poor kicks made, a couple straight into the Sale
player's hands who then ran in to score. Good to see though that
there was no panic, yes the players will be very disappointed
but will be clearer as to what they need to do. It was hard to
know whether we had unrealistic expectations (I did, expecting
us to beat Sale), or whether we just need to give them some more
time.

I know it is only 1 game and was without scrums but based on
what you saw Steve, do you think the result was just a case of
not playing together before / not playing for 18 months? Did the
team look to have the potential to pull together and be a strong
squad?

I didn't realise there were no scrums. We look to have a strong
set of scrummagers for our league. Will there be scrums once the
seasons starts for real?

Hi Chris, given the players we have in the squad I don't doubt
that once they are all available and have had some more time
together, that we will be seeing a lot more wins next season
than losses.

Thats good news Steve! I can't wait to see them. It has been a
very long break for our players so it will take some time to gel
but it's great to hear that you can see the potential!
RE: SCRUMS - I read online a few times that Sale didn't have
enough players for live scrums so it was just down to player
availability. Must not have had enough props or something.
I think the game against Leeds should give us a chance to pull
things together a bit more. Exciting times ahead.

Leeds cancelled another pre season against Hull today - not
enough players. I hope they can find some for next week!
