Old Elthamians

Old Elthamians have withdraw from national 1due to financial
problems. which must have a lot to do withtheir main backer
passing away .
They will continue as a club in the local Kent leagues if the
rfu allow it .
It's a pity it didn't come to light earlier as we might have not
been relegated.

It will be interesting to see what happens now. At this late
stage they may decide to run a Club less in Div one this season.
IF they decided to promote a Club from Div Two then it would
have to be us. Then to promote Clubs through the other Leagues
would mean a lot of Fixture Lists having to be rearranged. I
can't see that happening.

The problem will be the loss of income for the home team that
would have played them and at this time clubs need all the
income they can get.
Also on rolling maul Canterbury have said they will forfeit away
games if the travel costs are too expensive.

IF Canterbury have said that, then they should be removed from
the League. You can't have a Club saying they are not going to
play games for that reason. I know that if they
were removed all the other Clubs would lose two games, but you
still can't allow Clubs to pick and choose when they play.

Good reading on the National League Forum. Quite a few think
that Elthamians showed disrespect by leaving it so late to
resign from the League, when they must have known some time ago
that they didn't have the finances to carry on. If they had
declared their intentions before the 1st June and the fixtures
had been published, then Roth would have been re-instated to
Div One, and so on down the Leagues.
Has it stands all Clubs in Div One will miss 2 games this
season, and depending on what happens with Cambridge, they
could lose 4 games.

on Saturday?

Look at National League Rugby and read the report.
Elthamians have resigned from the League and all their Fixtures
have been cancelled.
Understandable from the BBC, they don't know anything about
any Club below the Premiership.
