       A Big Boys Burger
   DIR By: Winger14
       Date: May 29, 2021, 4:47 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
I went to the Club this afternoon with my Brother-in-Law. We
went in to have a couple of Pints and a chat with whoever was in
there. As I was drinking my first pint a young lad came to our
table and asked if we would like something to eat. My
Brother-in -Law didn't, but has I had had no Breakfast I asked
the lad what was on offer. He had a large piece of paper in his
hand from which he read out a comprehensive list of what was
available. I wasn't too hungry just a bit peckish, so I asked
for a Bacon and Cheese Burger.
What came out of the Kitchen for me was a meal for, at least,
two people. On the bottom half of the bun was a Pile of
Lettuce, Tomato and Cucumber. This was topped by what looked
like a half pound Burger, on top of that was a pile of Bacon and
Melted Cheese. I would say that the Top and Bottom halves of the
bun were at least 6" apart.
Also on the plate were enough Thick Chips for two people and
       four Onion Rings.
To say that this meal took the attention of all others in the
Club is an understatement, more people watched me trying to eat
it than were watching the Rugby on the Telly.
There was a couple sat next to me, he had a plain burger with
salad, with chips and onion rings. His Wife had the Meat and
Potato Pie. It was a large oval dish which was Filled with
large pieces of Steak and Potatoes, topped with a large slice of
pastry crust. With this came a 'large' boat of gravy. The chap
ate his meal, but when his Wife was full there was still half of
her meal left. The "Chef" put this into a plastic box for her
to take home. He also gave her a carton of gravy to go with it.
If I hadn't been to the Club, and was sitting here at a home
reading this Post, I'd think that someone was exaggerating, but
       believe me, I'm not.
I would suggest that anyone who comes to our first game on Sept
4th, gives Breakfast a miss, you'll need plenty of room in your
       Belly.

I had heard that “Dot “ who used to run the Brush and Easel pub
and was know for excellent food was taking over at the Rugby
Club ? Could this be a consequence of your burgers episode ?

Kim from Brush and Easel is new bar manager and has brought
Graham along with her. His food is great! More on this next week
on the website - it's been a bit busy setting everything up.
Also from next week, decent coffee from Cafeology in Sheffield -
machine should be installed by the weekend.

Had a good 4hrs in the Club this Afternoon, and yes I did have
another Burger Meal. Again it was a tremendous portion. Next
time I have one I'll take an Himalayan Sherpa along with me to
help me to Conquer it. I had to check with Fran ( the Beautiful
young lass who works behind the Bar ) to see if the Club has a
Defibrillator in case my Heart gave out half way through eating
it. I'm not saying that this Meal was exceptionally big, but
the Chef's young Son had to bring it out in a Wheelbarrow.
The last time that I was in the Club, two Saturdays ago, the
Lady sitting next to me had to leave half of her Meat and Potato
Pie as it was too much. The Chef packed it up for her to take
home. Today she opted for Fish and Chips. The Fish on her
plate was, without doubt, a very close relative to the Whale
that Herman Melville wrote about in his World famous novel. On
close inspection I'm sure I could see the hole in its side
       where it had been Harpooned.
Our new Chef Graham, does an excellent job in his Kitchen, and
anyone who hasn't sampled his Food yet certainly has a treat in
       store when they do.
To show just how good his food is, I saw the Head of our local
Slimming Club taking home a Double Portion of Meat and Potato
       Pie. Enough Said.

I was in the Club again on Saturday and it was good to see more
people in to watch the Rugby on TV. More work for Graham to do
has quite a few decided to have their Dinner while watching the
game. I had the Fish, Chips and Mushy Peas, and again it was a
huge portion and well worth the money. I won't be in this
coming Saturday but will be there the Saturday after. I'm
considering working my way through Grahams Menu before the
       season starts.
Good Food and Good Beer, just needs a few more in the Club to
enjoy them. Alcohol Free Beer available for anyone whose
       Driving.
PS I don't work for the Club, nor am I Grahams agent, just a
       supporter of BOTH.

Will be available only in Harry’s Bar as we have a private
function already booked in the main bar.

Good to hear that, let's hope that there are lots more Private
Functions booked in the future. Funds into the Club are good,
       wherever they come from.

I was in the Club on Saturday, we had to sit in Harry's Bar for
our Food and Beer has there was a BABY SHOWER planned for the
       Main Bar Room.
Another Americanism we've imported, in the good old days we
used to wait until the Baby was born before buying presents for
       Him / Her.
Still I hope the Ladies Drank / Ate plenty, it's all money for
       the Club.
Graham (Chef) said he couldn't get his usual 12 oz Fish Fillets
so he put 2 Fish on my plate with the Chips and Peas. I don't
know the weight of the Fish but it was a one meal a day portion.
When I paid, I gave him £10 and told him to put the change in
the till, it was well worth it.
I've bought a New Suit as I'm going to a Wedding (hopefully) in
Venice, in September, if I keep going to the Club I'll probably
       have to buy another one.
