I think todays Scotland v Ireland game could be close, with
Ireland just edging it. Prediction, without Jamesons, 20 - 25

Scotland 24 - 27 Ireland
My prediction for this game was pretty close, if I'd only had
a couple of Jamesons before I made it, I could have been bang
on.

France have been the best team this six nations and they will
beat Wales and Scotland. Just glad to be seeing open rugby
instead of kick feast. Roll on September when we may be able to
see live rugby at the lane.

After a greatly improved performance against France, last time
out England’s performance against Ireland today was I am afraid
to say, woefully. There appeared to be little cohesion and much
of the time the team appeared to only being through the motions
with no direction. They were totally outplayed by Ireland and
were lucky not to go down by more. Even when Ireland went down
to 13 we were unable to take advantage. 5th in the table is
totally unacceptable with the resources England rugby has. I am
afraid that it is time for a change in management, before the
World Cup, with either Baxter or Lee Blackett taking over
responsibility. I am sure either would do a much better job and
restore some success into the team.

To put Englands performance today into perspective, the
highlight of their performance was the Drop Kick Conversion from
out wide by Daley.
When you look at the time it takes kickers to Place the Ball,
Line up their Kick, Take their Steps back from the Ball, Look up
at the Posts two or three Times then Run up and Kick the Ball,
even from in front of the post, then Daley just drops the
ball, kicks it and off it flys about 35 metres and bisects the
posts.
For England to finish 5th is a disgrace. I heard one of the
commentators say, " the last time England lost to Scotland,
Wales and Ireland in a Nations Competition was in 1976.
How can a team perform so differently in two consecutive games.
Against France they were outstanding, very little kicking the
ball away and keeping the ball moving through their hands as
often as possible. Today it was back to square one.
I wonder how many English players impressed the Lions management
today. It will be interesting how many English players make
the squad.
I'm recording the France v Wales game to watch later and just
because my Wife has Welsh heritage I hope France Win. At least
it will stop her crowing on about how invincible Wales are. If
France do Win then I'll rub it in a bit, even if it means I'll
have to make my own Dinner tomorrow. I can't ever remember
having Egg and Beans on Toast for Sunday Dinner but so be it.
Mind you if I get up in the Morning and smell the joint of Beef
cooking in the oven, I'll probably be off to Tesco's for a Bunch
of Flowers.

Without doubt England v France and France v Wales were two
excellent games to watch. Last nights game had a bit of
everything, Powerful Forward Play, Good Hard Running Backs
Play, Hard No Nonsense Tackling and Red and Yellow Cards flying
around like a flock of Sparrows.
As the clock went Red and France took charge of the Ball in
their own half, I thought there was no chance that they would
score the Try they needed to Win the game, the first loss of the
ball and it would be Game Over. What happened was the best end
to a game I've seen for a long time.
The Welsh will be having nightmares about it for months, maybe
years.
When l got up this morning there was no Beef in the oven and the
Wife was watching a "sloppy" film on the Telly. I asked her to
show me where she kept the Potatoes, Carrots, Peas, Sproats and
Cauliflower and to show me how to switch the Cooker on, and I'd
have a go at getting the Dinner ready. She said she'd think
about it after her period of being in Mourning.
But all is not lost, I know where the Bread, Eggs and Beans are
kept so I'll not starve. If she's still in Mourning coming
upto Teatime and to save a Pound or Two, I'll cut her a bunch of
Daffodils from the front garden. If that doesn't work I know
how to switch the kettle on so I'll settle for a Cup-a-Soup.
Like most Men I can be really resourceful if needs be.

I really hope that Scotland get a Win tonight. If they Win by a
clear 8 pts, and France don't get a try bonus, they will
finish in second place. That will be the highest they've
finished in a Nations table. It's a big ask, but who knows, I
hope they do it.
