Six Nations 2021

Before todays kick-Off, England were aiming to Win four
trophies. Now they can only hope to finish top of the table.
Scotland were not particularly good, but they battled for
everything. England were totally bereft of any attacking play
and the amount of ball they kicked away was criminal.
I may have missed it but I can't remember one time when the ball
was passed thro the hands to our 13, let alone the wingers. Did
any player have a "good" game. At one point I had to get my
calculator out to keep score of the penalties we conceded.
I can't think of anything good to say, so I'll leave it at
that.

I thought considering no game time since the Autumn
internationals that Maro Itoje played well, but as for the rest
of the team 4 out of 10. No back moved were completed and kicked
away to much ball. And no plan B. The French now look odds on
favourite's with every other team fighting for scraps. Wale
could only beat a Irish team with 14 players for 80 minutes by
5 and Scotland just played better than us.

The Wales / Ireland game was a far better spectacle than
Saturdays game, but I still thought that neither team showed
anything special. There was some good play at times with the
Welsh wingers try, and how he scored it, the highlight for me.
I didn't watch the France- Italy game, but the scoreline was
what was expected.
It will be interesting to see how France perform against
Ireland. Hopefully, for me, an Ireland Win.
If Ireland beat France, then only the Winner of the Scotland/
Wales game can win the Grand Slam and Triple Crown.
The England team for Saturday should / will beat Italy, but I
wish that Jones had taken a chance and given Paolo Odogwu a seat
on the bench. When the bench has six forwards and only two
backs on it, it doesn't give backs in the squad much of a chance
of getting a game. Particularly as one of the two is 99% a
certainty to be a scrum-half.

A better performance from England but still too many mistakes
made. It was certainly a wake up call, with the ease in which
Italy scored the opening Try.
It was good to see England score six tries and the large points
difference at the end, but this was against Italy. On this
performance would they have beaten Wales, Ireland or France.
They certainly need to improve before the next game in two
weeks, away against Wales. The Welsh will be playing for the
Triple Crown, plus the fact that they are playing against the
ENGLISH, so this will be a battle well worth watching.
This could well be a close finish as to who will finish top of
the table, it could be England, but will have to Win the next
three games to be in with a shout, can they improve enough to do
it, Time Will Tell.

I managed to stick with todays Ireland-France game right to the
end. There has now been six games played and can anyone say
that they have watched a really good one.
There has been some good play in all games, and the occasional
bit of brilliant play from individuals, but overall I think the
Rugby has not been up to past standards.
I've watched better and more entertaining Premiership games this
season.
I'll carry on watching the rest of the games in the hope that I
see some better Rugby. Only Wales can still win the Triple
Crown, and Wales or France the Grand Slam.
I believe that the only Trophy handed out this year will be for
the League Winner. Who that will be is anybodies guess, I
wouldn't put our Dogs Kennel on the outcome of that let alone
our House.
My Wife has Welsh blood and cheers for them, so as long as
England beat them, I'll be happy.

I've got to admit even as someone who played rugby for 40 years
I'm finding this less than gripping, heavens knows what someone
who's only tuning in to see what rugby's all about would think?

I'm with you there Duncan, I can't remember the last time that I
watched an England game and spent so much time looking at my
phone instead.

Above I mentioned that after England's loss, the only thing
they could Win was the League Champions Trophy. I now find that
they can Win two more Trophys.
The following are also played for
------------------------------- Since
Calcutta Cup England v Scotland
1879
Millennium Trophy England v Ireland
1988
Centenary Quaich Ireland v Scotland
1989
Giuseppe Garibaldi Trophy France v England
2007
Auld Alliance Trophy Scotland v France
2018
Doddle Weir Cup Scotland v Wales
2018
So we look forward to Trophy Wins against Ireland and France

Neither team deserved to lose that game, both England and France
played open running Rugby which certainly entertained. By far
the best game of the Championship so far.
The Referee blow the whistle only when he HAD to, and kept the
game flowing.
Today England are the proud holders of the Giuseppe Garibaldi
Trophy until the next time we lose to France, and if we beat
Ireland next Saturday we will also be holding the Millennium
Trophy.
When France scored the opening try I thought, that was easy and
feared the worst. But England scored a cracking try in return.
It's a pity England have decided to play a fast expansive game
when it's to late to finish, probably, in the top two. In the
second half, France were Never in Englands "20" with the ball in
hand. It was good to see that aimless kicking was less than in
Englands three previous games. Every team gives away penalties,
but some of Englands discretions today were just Daft. With the
experience of our players why do they come in at the side at
Rucks and Mauls so often, whats so hard to understand about
"come in from behind the back foot".
This was by far Englands best performance and if they play the
same way against Ireland, minus the daft penalties, I'm sure
they can record a good Win.
I think that France will beat both Wales and Ireland and finish
top of the table.
