With the number of Players now missing for the remainder of the
Season, it's going to be an intriguing, and more than likely, a
Nail Biting run in to the seasons end.
Any more injuries in the Forwards, considering that the closing
date for Transfers / Loans has pasted, could kick our season
       into the Long Grass.
I wonder if Squad Numbers at a Club drop below a certain level,
through genuine long term injuries, the RFU can show some
discretion and allow a Club to bring in a few Lonee's as cover.
With a Third of the season to go there's a lot of Rugby left to
play, and with it a possibility of a few more injuries.

With Seven 1st choice Forwards missing it wasn't going to be the
game we would have expected it to be, but the Forwards who did
play put in more than a credible performance. They gave
everything they had, with some of them carrying niggling
injuries, but because of the missing players they had to play.
Overall I think that our Forwards had more of the game than
Chesters Pack who had probably been playing together for some
       time.
I spoke to some of the Players after the game and believe me
they were out on their feet.
Matti Williams limped out of the game and we can only hope that
he doesn't join the other missing players. The people who run
       the Club can bear no responsibility for the current situation;
to lose so many Players through injurie at the same time is
unpressidented in my memory. With the window for bringing in
Players closed, it's a matter of running with the Players we
have. Each of the remaining 8 games of this season are going to
be a test of resilience for all of our players, so our job now
as Supporters, from now until the end of the season, is to give
the best support we can to the Clubs Management and all the
       Players.
I understand that Tom Lewis has missed the last 2 weeks with
Covid, should be available for next Saturday. Colin took a
nasty knock to his mouth last week which took 14 stichers to
repair, he's a Warhorse so hopefully won't be out for to long.
I don't know what Harry Newborns injury is but he was on the
Bench but would only have come on if absolutely necessary, so
again hopefully fit again sooner than later.
It's fingers crossed now that our Lads don't pick up any more
game missing injuries, a big ask with 8 games to go.

It was a slow start for Rotherham on Saturday away at Chester
and they conceded a Try after only 2 minutes. Rotherham did
start to come into the game, but then conceded another Try to
the Chester pack who rumbled the ball over the Try Line. One
conversion had been kicked making the score 12 - 0 to Chester.
It was 27 minutes before Rotherham scored, from a Line-Out the
ball went along the Line to Jamie Cooke who stepped inside and
made a weaving 40 metres run to the Line.
Rotherham's next Try came from another Line-Out when Rikki Stout
was driven over the line in the 32nd minute.
In the second half Rotherham increased the pace, in the 48th
minute Lloyd Hayes fielded a loose kick and ran the ball back,
an overlap was created, the ball ended in the hands of Keifer
Laxton who ran ball in to score. Rotherham's next Try came from
an interception by Connor Field in the 50th minute, he ran the
ball in from near the halfway line.
Rotherham's Final Try came in 53rd minute when Jamie Cooke
received the ball and made a powerful run through midfield to
score making it 3 Try's in 5 minutes. Rotherham were now leading
       34 - 12.
The last score of the game came from Chester who scored a Try at
       the death making it 17 - 34.
There was a massive Win for Sedgley, but a close Win for
Stourbridge. Hull and Fylde did not have games.
Next Saturday--- Hull v Sedgley, Ionians v Fylde,
       Stourbridge v Bournville

Well the Show goes on. Another great 5 pointer to keep the
pressure on Hull. Every game we Win means that Hull can't
afford any slip-ups. They still have Clubs to play against that
       Could cause an upset.
We certainly had the edge over Loughborough with our Strength
and aggression. Our Scrums, Line-outs, Rucks and Mauls all
worked very well. Great to see Zac scoring an Hat-Trick and
leading through example throughout the game. We scored 7 good
Tries which is a good return against any Club.
Loughborough scored an interception Try, it happens, but they
scored 2 more through our sloppy tackling. They are a good
attacking Side and at times it looked like our Lads were trying
to tackle shadows. Anybody watching a re-run of the game on
Thursday, watch their Backs, watch the lines they run coming in
from all angles, their backing up of the Ball Carrier and quick
off-loads, all this and their elusive running were textbook.
This could have caused our Lads more problems and they had to
put in some good tackles to prevent them getting through.
The BUCS season is over, so they now have an influx of College
Players which I'm sure the will cause problems for Teams in the
       rest of the season.
My man of the match was Loughborough's Full-Back, an excellent
       all round player.

       HUDDERSFIELD 36 - 31 ROTHERHAM
Well this will certainly be a game to remember, but sadly for
the wrong reason. Of course this defeat doesn't mean we are
suddenly a Bad Team, what happened, happened and we have to
move on. Before this game kicked of, we were 2nd from Top and
Huddersfield were 3rd from Bottom, we had Won 21 games and
Huddersfield had Won 6, so it wouldn't have been unreasonable to
assume that we would have had a good Win.
After the game both Teams positions in the League stayed the
same, but the damage done to our prospects for this season was
far greater than the good it did to theirs.
As I said in another post, we have 4 games left to play, all
easily Winnable, so there is plenty of Support left for us to
give and I'm sure we will give it.
As someone has already said, we have, over the season, conceded
       too many points.

What ever happens for the rest of the season I've really enjoyed
it, and next season in Division Two North I'll enjoy it again.
It's a good standard of Rugby played at a fast pace and there's
a high degree of skill shown throughout all Clubs.

Well that's another season over, we may not have Won the Title
but without doubt it's been a very enjoyable season of Rugby to
watch. Our final League Position is 3rd, which is the Highest
       position we've finished in since coming 2nd in 2006 - 2007 in
National League one, now the Championship.
We've had a bad run of League finishes in the last 5 seasons
       finishing 10th, 11th, 12th, 6th and 14th, so finishing in 3rd
has been a massive upsurge for us. Now we have to carry this
new lease of Life into next season. This season we finished with
       P29 W23 D2 L4 Pts For 955 Pts Ags 553. Not counted
       the cancelled Harrogate game.
The average Home Gate for our 14 games is 476. We also Won all
       of these games.
We all understand that any game can be Won, Drawn or Lost. We
drew the second game of the season 22-22 away at Sedgley, we
came from behind and a Drop Kick attempt in the last minute just
sailed past the outside of the post, tough luck for us. We Lost
away at Fylde 17-21, and away at Hull 17-20. Both of these
games could have gone either way, the losses were exceptable
because they were against Top 4 sides.
To me the downside of our season was the away Draw at Bournville
17-17 and the two away losses at Huddersfield 31-36 and
Wharfedale 19-38. I think we gave up 11 pts in total in those
games. I know that Wharfedale have been a bit of a Bogey Team
to us but the size of that defeat shocked me.
We did play some good Rugby throughout the season and our Lads
gave us something to be proud of, and something to look forwards
to next season. I understand that we have already re-signed 17
of the squad for next season, thats an excellent start and once
again I'll look forwards to seeing what the make-up of our Full
       Squad will be.
Our Top try scorer for the season is Callum Bustin with 16, I
wonder what his final tally would have been had he Not missed so
       many games through injury.

What a great way for a game, and a season, to end, watching
COLIN kick that Penalty Goal. In total Colin played in 84
games for us, scoring 2 try,s and 1 Pen Goal.
A great player, a great inspirational figure to other players
and an excellent Man. Don't be a stranger Colin, hope to see
you at the Lane next season.
