I remember seeing this fine player in the first Premier League
match we played against Bristol. We were inexperienced and he
caught us out with a quick tap penalty and the whole team
watched him run through them. I think it was he who scored. I
remember thinking ‘ welcome to the Premier league.’
I was sitting right behind Mike Umaga when he missed a pretty
easy kick to win the match which ended a draw.

In Season 1997 - 98 Bristol were relegated from the Premiership.
Season 1998 - 99 24 Oct 98 H Won Roth
16 - 05 Bristol
06 Feb 99 A
Won Bristol 31 - 36 Roth
We finished in 2nd place, Bristol were Champions and promoted
back to the Premiership
Bedford finished bottom of the Prem, so we played them Home and
Away for the second spot in the Prem.
We won our Home game 19 - 11, but lost Away 19 - 27
Scores Tied Bedford stayed up having scored more tries than
Roth.
Season 1999 - 2000 we were Champions of the second tier and
promoted to the Premiership.
Won 22 Drawn 0 Lost 2 Pts For 1045
Pts Ags 267
Season 2000 - 2001, First season in the Prem, Finished in 12
place and relegated.
* 20 Aug 2000 Home Roth 20 - 23 Bristol
18 Nov 2000 Away Bristol 32 - 21 Roth
We Won just 2 games this season against London Irish and
Saracens, both at Home.
* if Mike's kick had been successful it would have been a
Draw.
Mike kicked 5 penalties in that game and Isaac
Feaunati scored a Try.

Surprised there is no mention of the most glorious 14-0 defeat
in history, Winger.

As above in 1999 - 2000, when we again played Bedford , Home
and Away, for the right to play in the Premiership.
The first leg, at Home, 24th May 2000, saw Roth score 4 tries in
Winning 40 - 20, while the second leg was one of Roths most
dramatic games.
Playing Away, 28th May 2000, Roth conceeded 2 Penalty Tries,
losing 14 - 0. But the aggregate score of 40 - 34 gained them
the promotion they rightly deserved.
