At the moment the only regular income the club has is over the
bar, and through events such as funerals which are sadly quite
regular bookings. Despite offering live Premiership rugby to
watch, the numbers coming to the club have been quite low.
The limit on numbers means it isn’t possible to bring in all the
players and do a shirt presentation as normal. By encouraging
people to come along on a Friday, to see new players, means the
bar takings can hopefully keep people employed and give some
feeling that rugby might happen soon.
Some players will be involved in training sessions next month
but limits on numbers, and RFU guidelines on how sessions should
be conducted, mean they will not be available to meet
supporters. When this happens, it will be clearer who some of
the new signings are and what the squad is looking like for the
new season.
Since the RFU moved to D on the road map this weekend, it is
looking more hopeful for a return to play sooner rather than
later, if the levels of infection don’t start to go up again.
The club appreciates the support of everyone but it is still a
difficult time trying to generate income and keep everyone
happy.

I'm not saying there should be a shirt presentation but surely
it wouldn't hurt to let fans know who is signed up for the
squad.
Our group sponsored a player last year and would like to sponsor
him again this year but we don't even know if he has stayed with
us.

Wish it was that easy, but while some players have definitely
committed to the club, and others may have said they’ll be with
us, but until the contract is signed and they are registered
with the RFU, they aren’t part of the squad. It’s worse than
ever this season due to no one knowing when/if rugby will start
and many have had offers from several clubs, and don’t want any
publicity until they make a decision.
Who was your player last season?

I find it exciting with the drip feed signings.
Also like Lindsey says it helps with revenue in difficult times.

The Saturday before last there were 6of us and 1other person in
the club between 1pm & 4pm so l can't see how that helped
financially I doubt it would have paid the bar staffs wages.
I just thought if the club released our signings it would create
a bit of interest.

I think the club are doing the best they can at this moment. We
will have a squad for when the season starts but the big
question is 'When'. I would say after last year the people
turning up to watch Roth will mainly be the core / die hard
supporters so I can't see us attracting many casual fans at all
this year. I would imagine the gates will be similar too, if not
lower than last season. It is frustrating but it is what it is.
I was in the club on Friday and John Whaling and Tony Jenkinson
were there so I'm sure they are working hard to get things
going. Until the trigger is pulled on the new season it is going
to be very difficult for us to solidify anything.
Looking forward to Friday!
