Regarding next season it could’ve that Chinnor are now
struggling with what I have just been reading . Vickers
apparently wants the salary cap dropped to £150k for Nat 1 but
isn’t that lower than Nat 2 salary cap . Also Matt Williams and
2 other coaches have left for London Scottish with some players
could this be money issues caused by covid or just simply
tightening the belt for the future seasons ahead . dropping the
salary cap has to be an individual club option if they feel
that’s their only option to survive next season but clubs that
manage the cap well shouldn’t be expected to do the same because
they are feeling the pinch

Lowering the salery cap was one of the proposals put forward by
Chinnor and Old Elthamians. Other proposals were 'null and
voiding' all contracts already agreed with players for season
2020 / 2021, and scrapping all Promotion and Relegation for
next season, and implementing a reduced fixture list. They
also proposed that the £150.000 salery cap was to include all
match fees, retainers, win bonuses and travel allowances, with
no more than two player coaches allowed outside the limit.
Failure to comply with mandatory regulations would incur a 20
point penalty.
These proposals are destined to go no further has they have no
other support. Chinnor and Elthamians say these proposals are
aimed at limiting the financial fallout from Covid 19.
This to me says that the two Clubs are in dire financial
straits.

From what I have read Chinnor were quite instrumental in having
the salary cap risen to £250,000 I dont really see the point in
moving that now in Division 1. Chinnor and Old E's dont have to
spend that money if they cant afford it. I think we do have to
accept that it might take a season or 2 to stabalise clubs after
this pandemic so for me keeping the financial rules the same
will allow the clubs to stabalise over time and return to where
they were. Some clubs will suffer more than others, some clubs
will stay pretty much the same and some might even prosper over
others. That is just the nature of 'professional' sport.

Well said Chris.
Chinnor and Elthamians have both had one major backer each,
these people (Businessmen ) have Businesses that are suffering
due to Covid 19. Has you have said Chinnor was one of the
Club's who fought for the Salery Cap to be raised, so they could
bring in better quality players. I think that their backers
are now worried that they will not have as much Personal money
to put into their Clubs, and other Clubs could match their
spending on players for next season. By bringing the Cap down
it would put all Clubs on a more equal footing. Has you say,
the Cap is a limit not a target.
Three Coaches and a number of Players have left Elthamians last
week. The Players and, I believe, two of the Coaches have
joined London Scottish. They probably saw the writing was on
the wall.

Officially we would have played our last game of the season on
Sat 25 April, so our season is finished.
So I have changed the heading of this thread to This Season
2020 -- 2021

Good point supporter. There is some speculation that we wont see
any Rugby / live events (with a crowd) for at least a year.
Obviously no one actually knows at this moment but I certainly
hope it is earlier than that.

It looks like we'll have Zac Poole, Dan Leake and Connor Fields
with us when we resume playing.
I understand that one of our Forwards has had an offer from a
Championship Club, I'll be sorry to see him go, but if he does
then good look to him.
Of course non of these are Definate until the Club announcers
them officially.
