I read its BT that have objected, apparently the relegation dog
fight battles are entertaining and BT don't want to lose them
       from their schedules!

The RFU are drawing up contingency plans for a vastly reduced
Championship in anticipation of Clubs withdrawing from the
       competition.
It is understood as many as 6 Clubs are considering their
positions after it was confirmed that non of the Governments £9m
winter survival funding would come in the form of grants,
instead only long term loans are available.
In addition, Tier Two clubs are being expected to stump up for
their own Covid19 testing programmes at a current cost of
£80,000 over a four month campaign which is due to begin on
       March 6th.
RFU officials are keen to see the Championship proceed, not just
to offer Saracens a route back to the Premiership but to allow
a whole raft of the Country's dual-registered younger players
valuable game time after almost a year without any Rugby.
Cornish Pirates and London Scottish are among Clubs believed to
be considering mothballing until next season. Pirates are keen
to preserve their funds ahead of work starting on their new
stadium. Clubs have said that they could take out a pretty
significant loan from the RFU, but with no crowds and little
prospect of Corporate income, who relay wants to take on debts.
We don't want to be paying back these loans for years to come.
IF only 6 clubs do take part, would it really be a Competition
worthy of a Club being promoted. Is playing only 10 games
       really a Season.
Of course if the Competition does ever get under way, there may
be more than 6, or less than 6 clubs in it. Whatever happens it
will look like a total Botched Up attempt.
The RFU should put the Championship out of its misery and say
that Sarscens are going back up. If Ealing want to kick up a
fuss about that, tell them that if they pay the £20,000,000
entry fee then they can also go up. They won't do it, because
they must know that they would come straight back down at the
       end of next season.

I find it sad how the game we all love is being governed with
the hoops being jumped through just to get Sarries back up?

Tomorrow will be interesting in the Championship. Cornish
Pirates v Saracens, where we will see if Saracens can lay down a
marker for the rest of the season.
There are 11 Clubs in the League, London Scottish dropped out
saying that it would cost to much to pay for the required Covid
       Testing Procedure each week.
Each of the Clubs will play 10 games, 1 will get a bye each
       week.
Hartpury, Pirates, Coventry, Saracens, Bedford, Ampthill,
Nottingham and Ealing, Will each play 5 Home and 5 Away games.
Richmond and Doncaster, will each play 6 Home and 4 Away
       games.
Jersey will play 3 Home and 7 Away games. A good bit of
planning there, with Jersey having the most miles to travel and
       they get 7 Away games.
Saracens should have had 10 Away games, make them Earn their
pre-determined Route back to the Premiership.
Until Supporters are allowed back into the grounds, and with
players to pay, Travel costs, and all other outgoings, this
season could prove very costly for most Clubs.
Particularly as this season simply looks like a Legal Vehicle
provided for Saracens to Drive themselves back to the
Premiership. They won't even have to wear their Seat Belts.

Well that result has made a mess of the First and Last line of
my above post. That's not the marker I thought that Saracens
       would put down.
With only 10 games to play this season this is the worst
       possible start for them.

Although Saracens were missing there International players there
were still 165 Caps in there squad today. After reading reports
on the game it was certainly a well earned win by the Pirates.
One reporter said that the Saracens pack were well " Mullered "
by Pirates forwards. I only recognised 10 names in the Saracens
squad, one of them a Centre called Socino.
Next Saturday Saracens play at Home against Jersey. The
following week they have a bye. By the time they play their
third game they should have all of their International players
       back.
Although today's result was a shock, if / when they beat Jersey
they should go on to finish in the top two. If they beat Ealing
they will be in the play-off.
IF Saracens don't gain promotion, then there will be lot's of
recriminations flying around at the Saracens club and at the
RFU. The RFU and Premiership Rugby might well have to make a far
reaching decision, as to what happens with Saracens.
If Ealing win the play-Off, and can pay the £20,000,000 entry
fee and pass the other 101 criteria that they will be expected
to meet, including putting together a Premiership worthy squad,
then they should be promoted. If by a miracle any of the other
Clubs win the Play-Off, they will refuse Promotion.
If Ealing do gain Promotion you can guarentee that Saracens will
be Promoted as well. There's no way that the RFU and
Premiership Rugby will allow them to be in the Championship next
season. They will have a League of 14, then Ealing will be
Relegated at the end of the season, then that will leave 13
Clubs all of whom are Bond Holders.
Of course if Saracens do the right thing and Win the Play-Off,
that will solve any problems for the RFU and Premiership Rugby,
and the Garden of Eden above the Championship will be happy.

Looking at the table, Ealing, Pirates and Doncaster are the top
three having Won their opening two games. Ealing are top with
       10 pts.
Saracens beat Jersey to open their account. To me, the winner
of the Saracens v Ealing game will finish top of the table. If
its Saracens, they'll go up, if its Ealing it will be wait and
see what decision they make. As I said above, whatever happens
Saracens will be in the Premiership next season.

Doncaster beat Hartpury last night, thats 3 Wins now and they
remain in 2nd place. Ealing won again, thats 3 out of 3 and 3
       bonus points.
The way games are going Ealing will Win 9 of their 10 games,
and so will Saracens. When Ealing and Saracens meet that
should be a hell of a game to watch.
As Saracens will have all of their International players back by
then, they should win the game. With 9 wins each what will
decide Promotion, will it be Bonus points, Points Difference or
the decision of a group of Old Farts.
It will be interesting to see what the make-up of next seasons
Premiership will be and the Clubs who will be in it.

       Doncaster 17 - 15 Pirates. That's 4 out of 4 now, and
maybe just for today, DONCASTER ARE T0P OF THE LEAGUE.
Well done to Donny, hope they can keep it going.

Donny are doing very well! I don't think Sarries are going to
walk it at all. Ealing put 75 points past Hartpury at the
weekend too. I would love one of the champ clubs to be promoted,
       preferably Donny!!!
