UK is in Tier 3. After the " Relaxed Period of 5 Days for
Christmas, who knows what Tier any part of the Country will be
in. With possibly Thousands of people travelling all over the
Country to Visit / Stay with Family / Friends for these 5 Days,
whats the chance of infection rates going up dramatically. I

From when I posted the above, things have got worse. The NCA
have now put back the start of this Competition from January to
a; as yet; undecided date in February. The Government experts
have said that this Virus will be with us until at least April.
The Government have backed this up but extending the Furlough
Scheme until April.
Whats the odds on any lower league Rugby being played before
then. The inoculations have begun, but with the age group of
Rugby players it will be well into Spring before they receive
theirs.
The new strain of Virus that has appeared, apparently is
spreading faster than the original one. I really hope that I'm
wrong, but I can see things getting a lot worse before they
start to get better.
Are the 44 Clubs who have joined this Competition still
maintaining their Squads, because they expected to start
playing in Friendly Games in December and in the Cup in January,
have they got their Players under contract, if so they should
be paying them ?.
If this Competition does eventually get under way, will the
Clubs have enough Supporters / Backers to make it viable?.
Some groups in the Cup have 5 Clubs, some have 6 Clubs and one
has 7 Clubs. Some Clubs will play 8 games, some will play 10,
and one group will play 12 games.
There are 8 groups, they haven't said yet whether 1 or 2 teams
from each group will qualify for the play-off stages. If it's
1, then 36 teams will leave the Competition, if its 2, then 28
teams will go. Will it really have been worth it for those
Clubs. I haven't read of any money being paid to Clubs for
playing in this Competition.
One Club from the knock-out games will Win the Cup, but what
will it mean. A Cup in a Trophy Cabinet that will never be play
for again. Will the Winning of this Cup even be remembered, let
alone be mentioned in Rugby History.
SOME GOOD NEWS
Martin and Steve have started the process of re-signing the
players we had for this season. Hopefully positive news will be
forthcoming.
Stay positive and safe, and first and foremost have the best
Christmas you can.
I wish a Merry Christmas and a more hopeful and positive New
Year to All of You and your Families.
All The Best ROGER

Latest from the RFU / NCA
Adult players living in Tier 3 areas can only travel within
their own specific Tier 3 area to Train or Play. They cannot
travel to their own club if is in a different Tier 3 area to
where they live.
Players at Clubs in Tier 4 areas are NOT permitted to Train or
Play. Clubs in Tier 4 areas should cancel all upcoming Training
Sessions / Fixtures.
I wonder how many Clubs who entered this Competition have still
retained their squads. If the Cup had started in January, the
Clubs would have had to have their squads Training and pre-cup
Friendly games organised by the beginning of December. It must
have been a shock to the Clubs when the Cup was put back to
February.
Now with the Whole of England going into Tier 4 total shutdown
until the 15th February, what do they do now.
The 44 Clubs should have had their squads signed to Contracts to
play, so have they been paying them, if Yes, then for how long
and how much.
If this Cup does get under way, when will it be, probably not
before the end of march, at the earliest.
DOES ANYONE BELIEVE THAT THE FOUR CLUBS WHO DID NOT ENTER THIS
COMPETITION, MADE THE WRONG DECISION.
I wonder if any of the original 44 Clubs have withdrawn their
interest. I can't remember reading that Clubs will get any
money from the RFU for playing in this Competition, its just a
Cup for the Winner.

shrewd decision back when this competition was announced

On December 20th the RFU stated that the Championship season
would commence in March. The 12 Clubs would split into two
pools of 6, playing each other Home and Away, therefore each
Club playing 10 games. The Clubs finishing at the top of each
Pool would play-off in a Final, and the winner ( Saracens )
would be promoted to the Premiership.
The Championship Clubs will have had their squads together now
for some time, on either Full-Time or Part-Time Contracts. They
will have been in some form of training for months now and
looking to organise a number of Pre-Season games. All Sounds
Good, But Is It.
I ask, as I did when posting about the lower Leagues National
Cup, are the Championship Clubs paying their squads. If so will
they ever recoup any off it.
With the way the whole Country is situated now, and our
situation getting worse has each day passes, what are the
chances of this Competition every getting under way.
Hopefully the season 2021/22 will start in September. I can't
see this Competition starting in March, if it starts later in
the Year then this season could run into the next.
Again I ask, is it going to be worth it Financially for the
Clubs when playing just 10 games. A lot to pay out, but how
much will be coming in.
Even if this Competition doesn't take place, Saracens will still
be in the Premiership next season, and Ealing will go up at the
end of the following season.
THEN THE DRAWBRIDGE WILL BE PULLED UP, and everything will be as
it should be. Whether anybody else agrees with it or not.

Duncang
As you posted on 4th January, it was a sound decision by our
Directors, Not to enter this Competition. I wonder what the
44 Clubs who did agree to Play in it are thinking now.
When this Competition was first opened for entry, the 44 Clubs
would have had to have a Full Squad assembled and Training ready
for the January start date.
They should have been organising Friendly games in December to
get their players match fit. I don't know, but I can't remember
any games being played, because in December the Clubs were
informed that the Start date had been put back to Sometime in
January. Did the Clubs think, Oh Well, its just a delay so
we'll keep our Squads together and Training ready for the new
start date. But of course any Training would have to have been
done under Covid Restrictions with minimal, or no Body contact.
Not good preparation. During all these weeks how much money
would the individual Clubs have had to pay out.
So have the past weeks been a total waste of time, YOU DECIDE.
At each individual Club will their Squads remain intact until
next season, some will and some won't.
If only the Directors at these Clubs had the same Foresight as
our Directors, it would have saved them a lot of wasted Time,
Effort and probably Money.

The RFU/PRL have decided that there will be NO relegation from
the Premiership this season. The have said that there will be
13 or 14 Clubs in the league next season.
Well, thats Saracens, who are one of the 13 shareholders in the
Premiership, taken care of. They've also talked about any other
Club wanting to join the Premiership having to pay a £20,
000,000 bond . Could Ealing afford to pay that. People at other
Clubs have voiced their disapproval at this, but their voices
will fall on Deaf Ears.
If they could, would it be worth risking on the chance that they
could, if the Prem is not ring-fenced, be relegated at the end
of the season.
IF this entry bond stays in place, then the RFU / PRL would
Never have to mention the word " Ringfencing" again. The bond
would ensure that whoever Won the Championship would not be able
to pay it. And that could be forever.
If Ealing were to be promoted, what would be their chances of
surviving behond the first season. In the Championship their
Home Gates were luck to number Four figures.
They may pick up a few more in the Premiership, but with the
number of Clubs in London, and outlying areas, it would be hard.
If they Lost the first 5 or 6 of their games then any extra
support that they had picked up, would soon drift away.
The inevitable is just what it is, Inevitable. We may not like
it but the Powers that be, at the top of the Tree, will do
whatever they want.

Could it Happen, from what I said in the above Post
There will be NO relegation from the Premiership this season.
If the RFU / PRL do as they have said and Promote 1 or 2 Teams
from the Championship, that would mean that 1 or 2 Teams should
be Promoted from National Division One.
Would that mean that the Terrible decision to Relegate us last
season would be reversed.
Even if the Championship takes place this season, at least one
team will be Promoted, and one team Should be Relegated. That
would still mean that 1 or 2 teams should be Promoted from Div
One.
SO, once again, if a Fair and unbiased decision is made, it
should be the Titans going back into Div One.
Knowing the RFU / PRL I wouldn't hold my breath awaiting the
outcome of any decisions they make. BUT MAYBE THERE IS A
GLIMMER OF HOPE.

Well I never, No relegation from the Premiership this season
looked cut and dried, Today the Prem Clubs have asked for a
delay as they need to consult with their Stakeholders. You
would have thought that they would have done that some time ago.
There's already been 5 games cancelled because of Covid. The
Club that called off the game were awarded 2 pts, their
opponents were awarded 4 pts. There may be more to come. The
Prem said that because games were decided by this method, it
would be unfair on the Club that finished bottom of the League.
If they've said that now, would it still not be unfair after
they've spoken to their Shareholders. Of course it might depend
on which Club looks most likely to finish bottom.
What happens if they decide on keeping relegation and then the
Championship Season is cancelled.
Why couldn't they just have made a decision and stuck to it
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh Yes, MONEY.
