       So So Close

I was not at the Rams match but I was delighted to see the
result and the positive comments people have posted about the
performance. Could those who went to the game shed light on why
the team got so close to an unexpected victory but fell short in
the final minutes. What does the team need to do to secure
victories in these tight games. The league position we are in is
down to the games we have lost but got a bonus point for being
within 7. If the team can win rather than being close we will
surly be safe in this league.

I agree, we shouldn't worry about Moseley, we are pilling the
pressure onto them! I think we have a good chance of survival if
we win this weekend and Mose loose. They have a game in hand
against Sale FC who wont want to be dragged into a dog fight so
I'm hoping they do the business and then we are in a really
strong position. We have improved massively but now we don't
have time for any slip ups. Either way I would love to see Steve
Salvin signed up for next season and as many of these lads as
       possible!
It's going to be bloody close. Composure, composure, composure!

It hasn't been mentioned before that we did actually cross the
whitewash with about 10 mins to go but the pass was adjudged to
       be forward. Small margins indeed.

We did, Boxy, and had a penalty advantage at the time.
Rams started with a fortunate try in the first couple of
minutes. A group of their players, who would otherwise have
been offside, were put onside by an attempted charge down. It
was then a walk-in. Another of their tries resulted from a line
out which did not go 5 metres. Couple of decisions at the scrum
gave them their last try - he said we went early twice (I didn't
see us go on either occasion) second was therefore a penalty
       which led to a try.
With 3 first half tries, we were pressing for a lot of the
second half but it never happened. Small margins.

Yesterday’s game against Stortford was yet another occasion when
he team was unable to close out a game having got into a winning
position. Their desire of the players to get the win can be
seen, but the smallest of margins are letting them down. They
must be feeling it and since Christmas the improvements have
been clear to see. Our league points, and margins of our losses
show that this is the correct league for us. Unfortunately the
league structure at he present time has 3 teams being relegated
and alas, at the present time we occupy one of them.
Interestingly Hull and Canterbury, who came up let his season,
are so far adrift and not up to the standard of this league at
the present time. We have proved our worth and are competitive
within it. Fingers crossed a miracle will happen and we are
       saved from the drop.

Agree Rucko but I think good game management can still save us.
Poor decision making at crucial times cost us the Stortford
game. That plus an extra ounce of creativity in attacking play.

Poor decision making and school boy errors have had a huge
effect. Placing the ball for a conversion far too close to the
line is foolish. I’ve been waiting for a charge down all season.
Repeatedly kicking into touch from restarts. The first try
wasn’t fortunate, it was due kicking straight out and handing
possession to them. Inappropriate kicking out of hand.
We’ve been scoring freely but being out scored which I think is
       largely due to poor coaching.
