Chris G was you expecting anything but ugly today in those
conditions?? Hand on heart I honestly thought the lads
,tactically, played the perfect game today. I was nervous that 4
tries was going to be beyond us today UNLESS we grafted and
stayed tactically aware. 18yo Tom B at 15 was immense under the
high ball and stayed composed when tackled. 20yo no 8 on debut
carried well. Young lads in key positions all stepped up today
and played , I thought, with a lot of maturity. I thought the
pack worked their nuts off and the set piece and line outs were
top notch. Looking at other scores in the league showed how hard
it was to score tries today so for me it was a massive pat on
the back to every one of them today. So yes I agree it was ugly
but it wasn’t going to be anything other then that in them
conditions. For me I’ve gone home very happy.

FOFSH at no point did I say I expected it to be anything
different? Just a tongue in cheek observation of what I saw so
I'm not really sure of your point? Not my first game watching or
playing in the rain....
I can't say it was a tactically perfect game but the lads payed
the conditions well and got the result that we needed. The line
out was much better than I have seen despite a couple of mishaps
here and there but that is to be expected and we defended
extremely well. The deserve a good drink and to relax tonight
but as my earlier post shows there is still work to be done so
we can't get too carried away just yet. I see us coming away
with points in all our remaining games based on our current
form, it will come down to how many games we win and how Moseley
do. I'm hopeful of surviving!

Totally agree there’s work to be done and I’m glad they have a
week off next week. They can recharge their batteries and go
again.

And my point is I don’t think we made it hard for ourselves in
fact I think the boys need credit for a very hard working almost
tactically perfect performance. Like Steve Salvin said in the
3rd half I’d have more then been happy to go in 0-0 at HT. But
out endeavours allowed us to pinch an opportunist try and a
lead. It just a lead but more importantly only needing 3 tries
in the 2nd half. The worry then is the lads (young lads at
that) will panic and try and get them tries as quickly as
possible. But we stayed focused and gave a fantastic dogged
performance that ended up getting what we deserved which was 5
points.

Chris has got a great understanding of Roth and rugby and the
way the game was played FOSH. It was ugly and we said all the
way through it would be. It wasn't tactically perfect, unless
that is what we are settling for and I don't think many would
say it was. there were several occasions where we ade poor
choices, but we got 5 points. I think the analysis of the points
for the end of the season is correct. We lie in a range, mose
lie in a range but are in the driving seat as they only have to
match us, nothing more. We have to go the extra, but we are
still in this fight and we can do it but we have to get some big
wins.

Firstly let me say a great 5 pointer so well done lads in very
difficult conditions!
Furthermore that result puts great pressure on Moseley as they
will undoubtedly feel the need to secure a 5 pointer against
Sale themselves and as such may be forced to chase the game in
order to achieve same and we all know that in the process of
which all structure can disappear!
In our next 7 games (Moseley 8) we need to achieve two 5
pointers and for them to nil which sounds entirely achievable
for it to come down to a couple of additional bonus points to
leap frog them.
We are accumulating points ugly or otherwise and this league is
far from finalised and I know that the players feed off positive
comments so lets indulge ourselves and leave the coaching staff
to administer the boll...ings!
This is our first year of any involvement with Roth but I must
say the support you afford your team especially from the shed
rivals that of any supporters I have encountered elsewhere.
I know this squad has the ability to take points from any
fixture remaining and we must believe that to be the case to
engender a positive vibe to allow the squad to feed off.
Enough said
Roth to stay in Nat 1

The whole squad are working their backsides off and sweating
blood for the cause!!
We can’t ask for more!
I still think on firmer going we’re a much better team so I’m
praying for some dry weather.
KEEP THE ROTHERHAM DREAM ALJVE
ATTITUDE!!!

Ugly wasn't a criticism
It was a comment on the appalling conditions meaning fast
flowing open rugby Roth style was a non starter. Grind out a
victory. Chill folks people are entitled to their opinion. We
were discussing in the shed when the last 5 pointer was. Was it
last season? Adds something to yesterday.
