       For Whom The Bell Tolls.

Championship Clubs are in shock, after being told by the RFU
that their funding ( £550,000 per Club) will be cut by 50% from
next season. Clubs are accusing the RFU of ring-fencing the
Premiership by making it impossible for Clubs to even attempt to
build a squad capable of ever going for promotion. They say
that without, at least, the current funding, all Championship
Clubs could be Semi-Professional within a couple of seasons.
This would result in the size of squads being cut, with the loss
       of upto 200 players.
If this happens, then undoubtedly their Sponsorship and Support
will drop. I see a storm on the way, that will bring far more
than Strong Winds and Heavy Rain. The way Rugby Union is
heading in England, I can see that in 2 or 3 years all Clubs
below the Premiership will be Fully Amateur. It's 42yrs ago
since I stopped playing, and I can see us going back to those
times. I thought that times back then we're fantastic, but
that's what theyare, back then in the past. We should be moving
forwards and making progress Year on Year, not going in reverse.
It makes me wonder if the same 57 Old Farts that Will Carling
talked about are still in charge.
They'll certainly be a few interesting Months ahead.
This tells us just what the RFU thinks of Club Rugby below the
Premiership. This will have a massive impact which will
       reverberate down through the Leagues.

Will there suddenly be lots of players no longer contracted?
Will the RFU continue this and cut Nat 1 funding in half?
Surely this is ring-fencing by the back door with a good chance
the Premiership A League will become the de facto 2nd division?

There is no central funding for National 1 just some money
towards travel. If it wasn’t for Nick, Martin and the sponsors,
       we wouldn’t have a team.

It’s a disgrace that the RFU at this time in the season feel the
need to do this . Can’t they see that cuts mean across the board
effecting both coaches and players . If you can’t afford to pay
for top quality players -coaches the players standards will drop
making the prem suffer in the long run So they must look at the
bigger picture . I can see the amount of overseas players coming
in being reduced due to living and playing costs which should
finally allow home grown talent to get a fair chance in the
       leagues .

Having fined Sarries £5.4 million for their breach of salaries,
where did all that money go? Oh yes you guessed it, it was
split between the other premiership clubs. Once again The RFU
were only interested in financially supporting The Premiership
Clubs. This latest initiative, of reducing funding to the
Championship clubs, is showing how they view clubs outside that
elite group. As soon as everyone breaks away from them the
       better.

If the RFU have packed Saracens parachute payment, I hope they
check it thourouley, has it may not open fully when they fall at
       the end of the season.

       Shameful
The rfu pushed Championship clubs to the brink financially when
pressuring them to go pro and reducing the size of the league
       and now this.
Nat 1 and 2 are more realistic places to be.

So, they are fined £5 million for breaking the salary cap and
the given £4.5 back as a parachute payment? And will be playing
in a league where all of the other teams have had their meagre
payments cut in half for doing nothing wrong?
       ?????????????????
