Winger, I would not be surprised one little bit if Lee became a
future England coach! Maybe there are a couple of promising
youngsters at Wasps that need game that Lee could send our way!
We will have to wait and see on our recruitment and retention
but for me and no disrespect to Dever and Hollingsworth but we
could really do with other options at 9 and 10. This year some
poor decisions in the half backs cost us dearly and some
competition for those places will only further the squad. A line
breaking centre and ball carrying Number 8 wouldn't go a miss
       either!

Chris if you only ho to the home games i don't think you can say
dever and Hollingsworth are not what we need its not the
players who make all the decisions i.e. kicking to the corner
       or box kicking

I don't see how we can blame our 9 or 10, think we have to look
at our defence in general with the number of sloppy tries we
       conceded

Not what is being said Spon I think, I always think it is odd
when someone suggests an area where it would be good to increase
options is taken as ‘blame’ - which is not the case from the
post. I agree with Chris, we need options at 9 and 10, which
has been discussed elsewhere in posts. There have been times
when game management has been of concern. I am sure our new
coach will be sorting this. Having been to most of the games
there have been times when we would have won had we had better
game management. Kicking away possession for instance in the
last minute and then conceding a try to lose the game, leads
lost on a number of occasions. However as Chris says next year
we will bounce back straight away if we keep the majority of
this team with some choice additions. As is always the case I
cannot see us holding on to everybody as there is always
       movement.

During a game, players will make some bad decisions and players
will make some good decisions. Both can alter the outcome of a
       game.
In our last Home game, against Bishops Stortford, we played
some good Rugby and scored 4 Tries. We also played some bad
Rugby and conceeded 4 Tries. With about 8 mins to go the
scoreboard read 24 - 24, and at that time we had 3 pts in the
bag. We were having most of the play and pressing for the
winning score. With a couple of mins to play we again won the
ball on the Half-Way line on the centre spot. Our backs were
lined up to attack on the Shed side of the field, *our 10 had
the ball in his hands and it should have come straight out along
the backs,* if we were stopped and went to ground the ball
could have been recycled again and we would have been on the
attack again. Would we have scored a Try or possibly won a
       Penalty we'll never know.
       * BUT, our 10, instead of passing the ball along the line, he
kicked it forwards, it was caught by Stortfords Full-Back who
started to run forwards, with less than a minute to go they
showed good speed and passing, to run the lenght of the field
and score a Converted Try. This was the last play of the game.
To me, that one decision took away from us a chance of Winning
the game, and possibly avoiding relegation. We could have
finish just 2 pts adrift of Moseley, would it have made a
difference, again we'll never know. With 5 games to go, I think
we had the easier run in.
Our season was NOT defined with that one decision, but it goes
to show how one decision can decide a Game.

Agreed on that occasion, Winger, but overall, I think that our
tactical kicking worked well for us and won us a number of
games. I remember many occasions when people were shouting,
"No!", from the stand when we kicked, then noticed that we had a
set piece 40 yards further up the pitch. Sam Hollingsworth,
whilst he did make mistakes, kept us in the right areas a lot of
the time. Connor Dever's box kicks worked particularly well
when we had Dan Leake to run on to them.
Part of the problem was that, with only one back on the bench,
when a back was injured, Sam Hollingsworth had to and play at
centre so wasn't at 10. Sam also came off injured himself on a
few occasions. That meant things did not go as smoothly.
I personally would be happy to see Dever and Hollingsworth back
in place next season, especially if Sam Boxall and Morgan were
       about as well.

Not quite that confident setter based on the number of games won
against the number of games lost. I think kicking away posession
and poor game management cost us several games I felt we should
have won. But we all see different things. I think additions at
9 and 10 would be really healthy for the team and offer options.

Spon, I think you may have mis interpreted my post and for some
reason made an assumption on me only going to home games, which
with me assuming that you do not know me is a bit strange?
If you read my post I said we could do with 'options' at 9 and
10 as at times last season poor decisions were made that cost us
points and games. I could address every position from last
season and give positives and negatives but that would take a
long time and for me 9 and 10 is an area where I would look to
strengthen or at least bring in equal competition. Our first
season we had Dolly and Dever who pushed each other along all
season. I also mentioned a line breaking centre and ball
       carrying number 8 wouldn't go a miss either. I don't believe
these suggestions are crazy and I do not believe anyone would be
disappointed if we recruited well in these areas?
I shouldn't have to justify my rugby experience but I have
watched and played for a long time (not as long as others on
here) and I do understand things about the game. In no way shape
or form am I an expert but I understand the game, recruitment
and the business behind it. I don't come on here to insult
anyone, belittle anyone or the club, make comments about how
people choose to support Rotherham etc. I just post my honest
opinions and get insight and other points of view from other
supporters of our club, we are not always going to agree but my
post wasn't meant to be controversial, in my opinion it was a
positive post for Lee and a usual close season post - thinking
of areas to improve for the next season.
To create a good strong squad you must have competition for
places to encourage all players to improve their games. I would
like to think that a good 9 and 10 would improve our playing and
encourage Sam and Connor to fight for a first 15 start - mutual
benefit. In our heigh day we had the likes of Jon Benson and
Ramiro Pez fighting for spots etc This creates a good
       competitive culture for a club.
