What do we KNOW

Bristol will be Promoted
Rotherham will be Relegated
The B+I Cup is to be scrapped
Without the B+I, what will the RFU bring in to replace the 6,
or more, lost games. It could be another Cup Comp, but would
they attract a sponsor for it.
There are still rumblings from the Premiership regarding the
scrapping of automatic Promotion/Relegation and increasing the
Premiership to 13, or possibly, 14 Clubs. Bristol promoted =
13, Bristol and one other, if deemed viable enough = 14.
If either happens, there would be no relegation for the
Championship and 1 or 2 Clubs promoted from Nat One.
If no new Comp is brought in to replace the B+I, then the League
must be increased to 16 Clubs to make the League viable.
This would mean 5 or 6 Clubs coming up from Nat One.
Of course this could all be Pie in the Sky and non of it
happens, but I would keep an open mind and watch the RFU's
postings closely, there may be a few surprises. Knowing the
RFU, anything could happen, and something will.
At this time Rotherham will be in Nat One next season, or maybe
not.

Taken from an article by Nick Cragg in the Rugby Paper.
Nick Cragg remains defiant over the Clubs future, and says, "We
know it's a tough ask, but we have nine league games left, so it
is do-able. We need to be positive and our performances have to
be significantly better, but if we are relegated and drop into
National One, we intend to be playing there for one season only.
We aim to come back up straight away and we will put together
a budget to allow us to do that. We have considered the size of
the budget Rotherham will need and the director's will make sure
that we have the money to compete.
That makes me feel more positive about our future, as it sounds
like we will have a Club / Squad competing next season.

Kept saying keep the faith - next year will re-energise.
Although I do now think the distance to stay in the championship
is a little too far. 23 points with 9 games is huge and in
reality we will probably need 30 or more

That is one of the more positive things I have seen written
about the clubs future in quite some time.

Nick's words have really cheered me up, for a while I have been
fearing the worst but it does look like we've a positive future
and a year in Nat 1 wouldn't be too bad?

Well, that's four of us who are feeling more positive about the
Clubs future. We now need our positivity to spread throughout
the rest of the Clubs support. Hopefully if we can start next
season with a winning run, to attract back some of our support
that has fallen by the wayside this season.
Although Nick has said some positive words for the rest of this
season, I'm sure that he, like the rest of us, has accepted the
inevitable end that awaits us. Unless there is a massive
decision made by the RFU and PRL, regarding the League
structures for next season, then it's National One for us.
If or when we drop, there will be no recriminations from me,
about any people at the Club, or any decisions made this season.
We should let this season pass into the History Books and look
forwards to, hopefully, a brighter future.
I'm sure the Club will be looking at the type of players
required for next season, so I hope that our fate is decided
sooner rather than later, so we can start our recruitment as
soon has possible.
All clubs can officially approach other Clubs players as from
today. I'd love to see quite a few of our current players stay,
if possible.
Hopefully we could attract current Championship players, who are
not re-signed by their Clubs. Also there's the option of young
players from the Premiership on D/R.
Of course all this depends on the Finance's we have available ,
but I'm sure we are still a Club than can attract players.
A big part of a Clubs finance's are brought in by supporters
coming through the gate, so let's hope that we have around 700
who are faithful enough to keep attending on a regular basis.
Well, there's still Home games for us to attend this season,
starting on Saturday 13th. Will we achieve our 2nd Win, we
can but hope.
Something must be said by the RFU within the next few weeks.
They can't leave the Championship Clubs with just 22 games to
play next season.

I’ve certainly no complaints against the directors who have
given us many seasons of high standard rugby. Doesn’t mean I’m
not worried about the future which could see us dropping through
the leagues like a stone. My own feeling is that a little more
money and better recruiting at the beginning of the season
might have made a difference. Also recognition that the coach
wasn’t effective a few weeks ago would have been a sensible
decision.
