       Canterbury Game
   DIR By: Winger14

       ---------------------------------------------------------
Saturday's game is the Mid point of the season. We really can't
afford any more results like the Elthamians game. After all the
soul searching possible, its hard to come up with any definitive
reason why we are in the position we find ourselves. We conceded
a try on Saturday in the 7th min of added time, but still went
into the break in front. I wasn't at the game but find it
unbelievable that we collapsed in such a dramatic way. Having
a Second Row in the backs for the last 20 mins can't have
helped, but should there have been such a reversal of fortunes.
Is it Coaching, Is it Fitness, Is it bad Disision making, or
       is it ALL of these.
I DON'T KNOW, but whatever it is, it needs remedying pretty
quick. Hopefully this week. I can't see a better chance of
putting points in the bag than against Cantabury. I still say
that we haven't got a poor squad of players, which makes it all
the more baffling as to why things have gone so wrong. I'll be
there on Saturday giving my support as usual, and I am hoping
that I see something that gives me even the slightest glimmer of
hope that our season will not be totally lost.
If we do get relegated I'll still be there season, but that's
still a long way off, I HOPE.

I think I have made my point that the coaching is the problem.
There is a strange 'air' at the club and it just reminds me of
our last 2 seasons in the champ. The culture in the squad seems
to be wrong. We have good players not getting selected that
don't seem to be injured, we haven't seen Kieran Frost for a few
weeks and I don't remember him picking up any injuries. Can we
afford to have a lad thats 6'9 and 19 odd stone not playing when
our scrum is getting hammered? Can we afford to have young Bunny
starting every game at 10 when he lacks the experience. He will
get there as you can see his class just we have Sam
Hollingsworth who imo should be the first choice and then bring
on Bunny to bleed him into the game at this level?
We have had plenty of nonsense from the coaches. We have given
them half a season and the results speak for themselves. The
lads should be gelled now. No excuse. My guess is the squad
isn't nearly as happy as it's made out to be and there are some
serious issues with morale and the payer - coach relationship.
Ways to get out of trouble
       New Head coach,
       New Simple game plan,
No long line outs (Caused nothing but problems all season and
       tons of wasted points)
Bring in DR's for key positions (Beg steal and borrow from any
club near ish by at a higher level Wasps, Leicester, Notts,
       Donny, Newcastle, Sale, Coventry)
Bring in a propper defence coach for a few sessions.
Up the Cardio workout for the lads.

Some interesting points made by you both. The problem with
looking for ways out of trouble rather than an improvement in
the rugby is that they can go the other way.
For instance, on a video, it was said that this week the
intensity of the sessions had been upped. The problem is that
the heavy cardio work should be done pre-season and lighter
cardio work undertaken during the playing phase of the cycle to
allow for recovery. Did upping the cardio last week in training
result in us running out of steam so badly on Saturday?
I would be interested in another update from Swifty about who's
fit and who's not after last week, when we seemed to have a lot
of people struggling to stay on the pitch.

Looking at how we did against other teams in the league,
compared to how Canterbury did against them is interesting:
We did better against 9 teams, roughly the same against 2 teams,
and worse than Canterbury against 3. Unfortunately, the 3 games
where we did worse against the same opposition were Cinderford,
Blackheath and OEs - the last 3 games we played.
I think not winning the Ionians game was a big turning point
       psychologically.

The cardio work should ha enhanced the performance unless it was
done Friday night which would be too close. If you are
conditioning your body to be able to move for longer then that
should only support what you are doing as long as it is mixed
with correct diet etc. Either way fitness seems to be an issue
and you are correct the heavy work should have been done pre
season and I think it was as we looked good in the first 5
games. Since then we have dropped off dramatically. It could be
fitness or it could be something else.
I would say our current processes aren't working. Yes we have
some injury issues but we were meant to have better strength in
depth this season and I believe we do. There isn't and excuse
for loosing a 18 - 3 lead and shipping 43 un answered points. We
could change and make things way worse but I think just plugging
on doing the same thing is actually even more risky as there is
quite a lot of proof that it isn't working and actually looks to
       be getting worse results wise.
I couldn't agree more about the Hull game. We needed a
convincing win but from what I have heard we were lucky to draw?
Let's hope for a big performance this week. Canterbury will be
fancying it so I expect a tough game.

It's seems a LONG time since we registered a Win. It will be
interesting to see what Squad is selected for this Saturday,
bearing in mind it really is a Must WIN situation. We need
plenty of Height and Weight in the Forwards, to try and impose
ourselves on the game from the start. If they can succure good
ball, then lets hope our backs decide to run the ball has often
as possible, and cut down on the Kick and Chase. We seem to be
able to Kick it into the air, but struggle to get any Bugger
under it when it comes down.
This has got to be our best chance of getting a Win for quite a
while, lets hope the Lads don't blow it.

There still seems to be optimism in the squad from the Titans TV
videos and they think we will come through. I'm not mega
convinced. We have to win a lot of games this 2nd half of the
season, so far we have managed 3 wins. If we get a big 5 point
win tomorrow then that will be a good start. Nothing to get
carried away about but a good start to our comeback. Hopefully a
win brings confidence and we can push on. Next two games are
must win for me. If we loose then we are in real trouble.
I will be there for my first game in a while so looking forward
to the pie and to making some noise for the lads. Come on Roth,
time to show your true colours!

of this trouble. to that end he could be a great asset to the
coaches. If he isn't and is not being picked then that confirms
my fears of suspect leadership of selection and coaching. Time
to ask some very searching questions I think. There has to be 8
points from the next two weeks. cannot afford less.

Dont think Frostie is liked by Posa. Hope he is playing
       tomorrow.
