Ionians should improve week on week.
Don’t forget Leeds nicked there coach and some players so they
are playing catch up.

To make it even worse Cambridge won .
We seem to give a lot of tries away in the second half so maybe
it's a fitness problem although it doesn't help having 2
players in the bin late on.

Today when we played with pace we was very exciting to watch and
it made a massive difference going forward so why haven’t we
been doing this from day one . We are seriously misfiring on all
cylinders we play a slow ball which lets the opponents reset we
also box kick to bloody much and give the ball away because
nobody chases it down and today Leakey did his best but it can’t
only be left to him , Line speed isn’t there we wait for the
opponents to attack so under pressure again we are playing Nat 1
not level 6-7 . With the Quality of players we have we should be
top 3 not bottom 3 and 11 games in with 3 wins its embarrassing
for them and humiliating and the confidence is zero and it’s
time to look at the coaches or coach and say goodbye you cant
blame the players for playing the way they are told to play .

I dont buy into firm ground / soft ground etc we have to compete
at this level and we are not. There is now a gap to the bottom 3
and we are firmly in it. The question is are our players
National 2 quality and hence we need to drop another level to
find our niche. Now I don’t think that for one second and think
our team should he up the top end again. So then - why are we
where we are? I think the hard question has to be coaching -
are we well enough drilled? game plan seems confused at times ,
interchanges odd at times. I think we have to sharpen up quickly
and we have an even harder game next week. It is a must win
though.

We are in the position we are, not because of today’s
performance but what has occurred in the season to date. The
close games we have lost and should have got more out of. I feel
the players are performing well, but have not managed to convert
their territory into points. Too often when we have got into the
red zone we have come away with nothing. Line outs
misfunctioning, points not being put on the board by not opting
to go for posts. This maybe down to fact that our squad is so
young. A few older streetwise players who know how to see out
matches might help. I fear our team is mirroring Esher last
year. I am afraid it goes without saying if we don’t pick up
some wins before Christmas it will be too late and our fate is
likely to be sealed. Looking ahead, next week we play Cinderford
at home. Yesterday they played Blackheath on the road. We then
play Blackheath away the week after. So a victory next week
COULD, SHOULD get the team back on track. We also play
Canterbury before Christmas who at the present are bottom of the
league. Wins will build their confidence and Confidence will
build wins which is what we all want to see.

Agreed and i thought Hull would have been the first confidence
booster but that turned out to be the opposite. I think we need
3 wins before christmas to stay in touch for the second half
when hopefully the young team will come of age. However we dont
want to be too adrift ie having to win 3 more games than nearest
neighbours. sale at sale will be high stakes. Canterbury we just
have to win as they are now almost certainly going down. Then a
third, next week will be a tough one for us. I would hope to win
it however . I dont think yesterdays result put us in this
position, however the other results in the league weren’t too
favourable and made matters a bit more challenging in that a
clear gap has opened to 4th from the bottom.

The squad on paper is huge but I haven't seen half of them play
yet, I know Ianto Jones is recovering from a shoulder ac and
should be fit by Christmas but there's a whole other squad that
haven't made their debut, they train because I see them but no
game or even reserve time? Something needs to change definitely
and soon or we'll be playing the Tigers next year, on the
positive side of that closer home games but not where we want to
be, plus we'd end up like last year cobbling another entirely
new squad together, because our lads wouldn't want to play in
Nat 2!! Fingers crossed we can get some points on the table
soon!!

I completely agree about the squad. We have some great players
capable of competing at the top end of this league. No doubt
about that. The young team thing - I can't agree with. These
lads have been playing for years and are capable of playing the
game. It has nothing to do with age for me, with maybe Morgan
Bunting being the exception.
We signed lads from Leeds who have some champ experience, A
number of lads from last season (Top 6) and other capable
players. Coaching isn't working. I'm unsure of what Martin
Jenkinson's role is? I'm not knocking him, I am asking a genuine
question as I don't know. If it is quality control I'm sure he
isn't happy and will be spitting feathers. If it is anything to
do with game plans / coaching, I would find that unusual. He has
signed quality players so I am sure he is also asking the
question of 'Why isn't this working?'
We need to hear some honesty from the coaches this week. 3 wins,
7 losses, 1 draw (Bottom 2 club) is only poor. None of the usual
making improvements etc. Some Andre Bester straight down the
line honesty is needed. If it isn't working, if the current
coaching team isn't capable / need some support what can we do
to fix this before it is too late.
We are in the second 3rd of the season and at this rate we are
going down which isn't an option for me. That would be a
travesty.
I know Ionians had some adversity this season but with the squad
they have they were destined to be a lower placed team. Just the
way it is. Credit to them for the result against us. Great club.
