It only seems 5 minutes ago that we were playing Ionians in
pre-season games and scoring 50+. I have only seen a few games
so far this season, but from what I have seen we really have
some work to do just to get mid-table.

That was dreadful serious concerns now. Hull were poor and we
were just as bad. Lot of work to do. We seemed to have a bigger
pack. It were bossed. Seemed to lack ideas but at times showed
real flashes. Going to be controversial now. I question strategy
and that is coaching. I think we need major change now as we are
a few months in

Agreed Steve , it all seems a bit of a mess at the moment and it
is getting well on in the season for 'new team bedding in' we
seem to be playing poorer now than early season. So lack of
progress brings me back to strategy. I think we need to move
quickly to sort that.

After England’s result this morning I was hoping for a dominate
performance by Roth againt Ionians to make up for it. However,
my expectations were totally ill founded. I came away from the
game thinking we were truly fortunate to get anything out of it
against a team that had not won his season. As others have
already said the pack were second best by a country mile. In
earlier games we were dominate. One observation is that Anthony
Maka has not featured recently. Is he injured and are we short
of other players because of injuries. The only positive I can
take is we didn’t loose. I certainly didn’t see the usual
passion that is usually worn on the shirt today, I hope this
will return next week. Luckily Sale lost and Cambridge only
managed a draw.

I was told today that Maka is injured? He was at the game
watching though.

We had more than enough possession and field position to win
this game easily but couldn’t get over the line.
The scrum,defence of maul and failure to score off maul is a
worry.

We were hammered in the scrum. We knocked on and spilled ball a
lot, which meant they had lots of scrums. Apart from one very
good take by Tom Bacon, we lost almost every high ball /
restart. We had trouble stopping their Maul. Makes it
difficult to do anything when you are struggling to get the
ball.
On the bright side, it stopped raining for a bit. And our line
out worked. We did play some good rugby for short patches - we
looked dangerous down the right in the second half. But most
good moves ended in a ball knocked forward - scrum - penalty to
Hull.
Think we might have to revise our expectations for the rest of
the season.

Am I the only one to notice that a score for us is very
frequently followed by a score to the opponents from the
restart.
