Doncaster

Saw Doncaster Coventry Saturday. Doncaster big pack and tried to
bash their way through. They should have used backs more as
centres, of which jack was one, looked very dangerous. Coventry
much livelier and deserved what was a scrappy affair. Very quick
backs and great defence from Coventry. Coventry 10 kicked very
well. Bottom end of championship is well in advance of Ampthill
- they will struggle without additions.

Went to game as well, spare afternoon. Agree Donny forwards
really big, back row Ryan Burrows, Calla and Rory Pitman. Later
had Bomber and Quigs in front row. In backs Jack Roberts,
Charlie Foley and Curtis Wilson. Coventry had Will Owen and
George Oram playing them. Definitely a big chasm of difference
between Championship and National One.

Huge difference. The Strength in depth is a massive show too. In
the back row alone they have Tom Calladine, Ryan Burrows, Josh
Tyrell, Ollie Stedman, Michael Hills, Rory Pitman, Willie Ryan,
Sam Jones, and they are placed 4th from bottom at the moment.
Any team going up this year has a lot of work to do in the
recruitment department. For me at the moment I'm happy where we
are, we would have no chance of signing a team strong enough to
survive without bankrupting the club.
On another note I would love to know how Coventry have improved
their crowds so much at home. Last time me and my dad went down,
there were as many Roth fans as Coventry very similar to our
home crowd numbers but they have been well into the thousands
for the last few seasons nearly selling out on a few occasions.
Maybe Wasps moving there has helped bringing Rugby to the
catchment areas attention but there must have been a lot of work
behind the scene's to market the club in a successful way??

Did any of you there see any of our current squad who might be
signed by Donnie spectating yesterday? Let’s hope we can hold
onto as many of our present squad as possible. I don’t think any
of Donnie’s squad are looking to play in National 1 but in my
opinion It would be good if there were on or two of their senior
aged players who would be prepared to help nurture our very
talented young guns in their final seasons.

I have heard a rumour that we may be getting a Donny player who
is not enjoying playing there. Ex Rotherham player, but no names
were mentioned.

Wouldn’t mind players coming from Doncaster or Leeds if they
wanted to play in the national league

There were 10 ex Titans in Donny's squad, 7 in the starting 15
and 3 on the Bench. I would have any of them back, permanent or
loan.

I didn't see any current Roth payers at Doncaster so no clues
there. As for the ex Roth coming back, Willie Ryan hasn't played
for them much and he has been on loan to a national 1 side. Toby
Williams doesn't look to have started many games either so it
could be him. The others are pretty regular starters. As said
above I would be happy with any of them as they all would add
quality to our squad!
