I will be interested to see if the team we face is similar and
the results of both games. This should give us a clearer
indication as to how we might fare in the season ahead.

I suspect that Newcastle will save most of their big guns for
Sept 5th against Glasgow Warriors (the match after ours on the
double header). This means we should face a similar team to this
one. There are a few big lads in there Leatherbarrow, Tuima are
first teamers. They are a very strong outfit on paper and we
might even see a bit of stardust for our match. I suspect it
will be our toughest test come what may. The Donny result will
be very interesting as it is there first outing.

All Doncaster痴 backs from 11 to 15 look like South Sea
Islanders ? With a couple more in other positions ?

Donny seem to play well versus a decent Newcastle team. But in
harvey we trust. Feels like we are back to bester days of being
competitive in tier 2.

Depending on the squad Newcastle put out, the Newcastle game
will be a big sign of where we are. What we have done extremely
well over the last few seasons is build and retain a core squad
and develop a playing style and identity that is easily enhanced
with good signings. We won't face Newcastle's first team but
hopefully it will be a similar squad to what they will put out
in the Prem / Champ cup games which will be a good champ level
side if not slightly higher. We need a good test. We need to be
on the back foot a bit to see where we are and where we need to
improve for the season. It's easy when you are the hammer but
the most important thing is how you deal with being the nail.
The first two pre season games were very promising, essentially
fielding two completely different sides against two good Nat 2
sides who could compete in Nat 1 and beating them handily. We
haven't yet seen what Harvey's 'First Team' will be but the
examples we have seen are very promising. I think as long as we
keep the core of the first team together and enhance with the
new signings we will be very strong next year. We already have
players that are more than capable of competing at champ level
and with the new aditions, depth of squad and incredible
coaching we now have I think we will do well this season.
The jump from Nat 2N to Nat 1 was a big jump and in our first
game we beat Rosslyn park comfortably who the season before
finished 2nd. We know how to make the step. The big difference
is the professional sides we will come up against next year. I
know our lads can compete and succeed.
Harvey won the Champ recently, he knows the standard, he knows
the teams and knows what we need to do. Mid table is the goal
but I can see us finishing in the top half.
We will be up against it this year but our lads will do us
proud.
A few years ago I couldn't really imagine us being back in this
position after dropping out of the Championship and Nat 1.
Looking forward to this weekends game.
