Strange to "win" the first half 52-0 and then draw the second
half 19-19 !!

First half totally dominated but second half we were finding
things much harder against them. Not sure what happendd there.
Missed touch from penalties on several occasions and didnt
contest a few kick offs. However i do thinl the coaching team
will have gained valuable info from this game and thats what pre
season is all about.

Yes Rothoik, the wheels seemed to fall off a bit in the second
half. You would expect the opposite really. The club 2 leagues
above should pull away in the second half but Oundle were
arguably the better side in the second half.
There were a lot of changes and a lot of new players so no need
to read to much into it. The coaching staff will have learned a
lot. Oundle were a good side and will do well in their league.
The score did not reflect the game in the end.
Big positives are
The new 9 looked really good, sharp, fast no messing about.
Russell Bennet looked sharp at 10 even though he missed a few
kicks and missed touch a few times, just pre season rust
however. The new 12 Ali looked a real danger, fast, powerful,
hard hitter and can jackal. The new big winger looked dangerous,
he will be a threat. The new 6 was a handful, similar player to
big John, fast powerful, athletic and can step. The new Hooker
looked good.
The first half team looked a step above where we were last year
I think. Hard to say as its pre season against a lower side but
they looked good. All our regulars delivered as you would
expect.
Newcastle will be a very good test. I'm assuming they will put
out a similar squad to the Prem / Champ cup games so they should
be at least of a Championship quality side I'd imagine depending
on who they put out.

Oundle just lost in the playoff up to national 1 and have
recruited well. Several player coming down from champ rugby. Tom
Collins had o ly jsut stopped playing full time pro rugby.
How did we do in the set piece in the forst half.
The most interesting selection was big john in the second row.
Harvey looking at have 4 back rowers in the pack for an open
game plan. We won't have the strongest pack like last year.
That's Ealing Cov and Wuss. But having an open game plan like
Bedford maybe one of our game plans at home with a big pitch??

At 52-0 up at half time in a pre season game I’m not surprised
we eased off. Maybe we switched off a little in the second half
but what I admired about Oundle and also Old Albanians last week
was that they never gave up and are both a credit to their
league.
The line out looked really effective which was a bit of an
Achilles heel last season but crikey there’s some serious
quality in this team.
