New seasons starting XV

What an off season with loads of quality signings. Harvey and
the board have done us proud. So before a balls kicked in any of
the pre season games heres my thoughts on a starting XV and
match day 23. Ive kept the spine from last year, but we have
signed some quality players with several going straight into the
forst game vs Cov.

I like the look of that, like last years team but even stronger!
I suspect, however, there'll be more than the 5 'new boys' in
the team the 5 you predict; just don't know who'll they'll be
;D

It will be interesting to see the make up of the pre-season
games and how well they go. With so many new players,
integration and cohesion can be a real issue and we may not get
the scorelines that we would want but that said the squad looks
so strong, much stronger than last season so maybe this will
mitigate that effect. The pre-season should give us a bit of an
indication of what the best 23 will be, although fitting 50 plus
players into 4 matches is going also give limited game time for
some. Has the squad captain being named yet? I am not sure of
the relative leadership pedigree of the newbies so I am assuming
that Travis or Lloyd may carry that mantle?

It is going to be very interesting to see what our first team
will be in the first game. Every position now has great
competition which will only push standards forward. If you have
an off game you might struggle to get back in the starting 15 if
the next player comes in strong which I'm sure will happen. What
I do know is our bench will be very strong this year and there
will be no loss in quality when subs are made.
I couldn't say who will be definitely there at the moment but I
think there will be some players we would expect and some
surprises! I think we will have uncovered some real gems as we
did last season.
As for the captain, I think Travis will probably take that as he
was vice captain last season but there are others like Rothoik
mentioned who could well become captain.
It will be very interesting to see the squad over this next few
weeks in the friendlies.

Wow! That is an amazing achievement for Jack Baldry being such a
young lad and only in his second season with us. What a find he
has been!

I guess that Bennett's previous stint with HB at Jersey and his
high standard in the Champ make him a good candidate for a
leadership role. Very exciting times, a complete reset with new
pitch layout, players and the on-line shop, which i have already
made use of. Can't wait!!

Has to be Travis for me as captain, and as already stated, Jack
Baldry being part of the leadership group. Massive well done to
the local lad.
