A solid set piece and half backs with experience are the
foundation. JB mentioned in an interview about next season he
would have to slim down. Recongnising the extra fitness needed
to compete at this level. I suspect we'll look to get a younger
scrum half with potential to work with JB.
I work with several Bedford fans and there are divisions in the
champ. Ealing and Wuss will be at the top. Then Bedford Cov,
midtable teams then the rest. I agree we'll be in and around the
bottom but we should aim to be competitive against all teams.
Derby vs donny wi be great.

I think we will be in the middle of the table - our pack has
always been solid and HB is bringing in some quality to add to
the depth there.
As for the back line - so far 12, 13, and 14 are the National
League’s Players of the Season. I’d bet Isaac makes it as 15
today. They have been scoring tries all season rather than
everything coming from the forwards, and again, HB is bringing
in some quality youngsters to boost the squad.
Hopefully lots of us will be at the Club on Tuesday to hear his
plans and find out about some of the new signings and his plans
for everything around the campaign in the Champ.

Most exciting and encouraging news, thank you Lindsay. When we
moved up from National 2 North I was apprehensive and worried
about what lay ahead and how the season would pan out. The team
far exceeded what I had expected and were more competitive than
I had anticipated. Harvey’s experience with Jersey, taking them
to champions, is evidence that he knows what is required. There
are certainly exciting times ahead.

I think mid table is where we will be too. We already have a
great squad and with some quality additions to our core of
players that won the title we will be more than capable of
finishing above the relegation play off. As a club we know what
it takes to compete in the Champ. We have the core squad and the
coaching expertise, with quality additions we will be fine. If
Russell Bennet is the calibre of player we are adding to the
squad then that is a very promising sign.
We also have fortress Clifton Lane where we haven't lost a game
in a very long time. We can mix it with anyone in the Champ at
home. We will give everyone a bloody tough game at the lane and
potentially could take some big scalps. In Harvey we trust.

Watching Richmond vs Bedford, the difference is the clinical and
ruthless edge that the better teams have. Bedford had livewire,
pacey centres that made huge meters if you slipped a tackle and
so every mistake and missed tackle is try time at Cahmp level.
We will need pace and fitness to keep getting back up to keep
the tackles coming fast enough, I think Harvey will sort it but
I think realistically mid table is a good target. I am confident
we wil lavoid the play offs. Richmond fans seem to be of the
view that the Champ teams have deep squads and they lost
promising starts to end up on the end of a beating in the second
half on a number of occasions. Squad depth to allow rotation
will be more important than ever.

Bedford are always a lively side with very well drilled and
pacey backs, they seem to have the pack to match at the moment
too. I know the Mond fans were saying you essentially need two
first teams which I am sure we are building. If we retain our
first team from last season which is looking likely and bring in
more quality players then mid table is a very achievable league
position. At the moment I do not see any reason why we can't
compete with Donny, Notts, Caldy, Ampthill, Mond, Blackheath,
Hartputy, Chinnor and ask questions of the top 4 particularly at
home.
Just remember our pedigree, we spent a lot of time in the champ
and tier two in general, winning the division on 3 occasions and
mixing it at the top end on many occasions. Nick, Martin and co
know the league very well and have a coach / DOR in Harvey who
recently won the league with Jersey. Harvey knows the Champ, he
knows the kind of players you need to succeed and has a brand of
rugby that will have us being competitive in every match. We
also already have players who have played at that level before
and been top performers at that level in Lloyd Hayes, Fozzy, JB
and Bennett these guys will be important leaders to guide our
younger players. I'm sure there will be a few more names added
to that list with champ pedigree.
It will be a tough first season back and it won't go all our own
way but our lads will do us proud.

No new players announced tonight, with the lads back in training
next week, hopefully we'll start to hear about some of the
additions to the squad from next week onwards?

Your list of returnees seems to be out of date.
