Although I believe that the majority of our current TOP 20
players would do a Good Job in the Championship, we will still
have to Strengthen our Squad.
Signing Russell Bennett is an excellent start. As usual,
after the Sale game, our thoughts will be firmly fixed on, Who
will be Leaving, Who will be Staying and Who will be Coming In.
Exciting Times Ahead.

Assuming we keep Rob Povey, it will give us a strong selection
at fly-half.

Due my location and location of some close friends, I get to
watch Richmond on a few occasions and I was there for the match
against Bedford last weekend (keeping tabs on the sedgely score)
- It should be noted that the Richmond crowd I was with are
rooting for Rotherham, lots of respect I think. I also had a
quick chat with Ronnie Du Randt post match (he was somewhat
nervous). The point is, that we need pace and power in the back
line as the Champ is a big leap up. Richmond were very
competitive and lively but any slipped tackles were ruthlessly
punished by Bedfords midfield and wing options. They were
formidable in pace and line breaking. I watched the Sedgely
highlights and the game seemd somewhat slower and so we will
need to rethink things a little and bolster the midfield to
compete. I think our pack our very strong and Richmond's pack
was more or less the same as the Nat 1 pack. They had a few
changes in the back line in their squad but they find themselves
in the play-offs. Having Champ experience will be vital and so
if Bennett is indeed signed then it will be good even if it is
to help level-up the rest of the backs in training. Hopefully we
can hang on to Barling, Shaw and Lacey as they are champ quality
(IMHO) other players we have can make that grade with the right
support, I think. But having watched some of the champ games we
will have to find another gear (assuming we do the business on
Saturday). It will be fascinating to see what sort of
recruitment plans are in place in the event we get over the
line. Exciting times!!
