We found a way to win today which is a great sign. We were quite
disjointed, scrappy and full of errors but we came out of it
with the win. We should have nilled Tonbridge, we gifted them 4
very soft tries really. We also could have scored a few more but
made so daft errors on the line.
The first half was a scrappy affair with some daft mistakes but
this is to be expected with key players missing. The scoreline
did not reflect what was happening on the pitch as we were
dominant in possession we just gifted them tries which led to us
being down. Had our handling been better we would have been
leading at half time quite comfortably.
We came out a lot stronger in the second half and started to
settle a bit. We were on there line and they came out with a
breakaway try but that was all they had to offer. Apart from the
obvious errors our defence was solid and Tonbridge couldn't
really get anywhere. When we had the ball and ran at them we
were very dangerous and managed to get ahead then on to win with
a 10 point difference. I do think we could have nilled them
really, we just weren't quite there at times. The half back
pairing was a bit disjointed but it grew throughout the game and
became more solid with confidence building. Give them a bit more
time and I think the errors will be gone and we will look a lot
more solid. Just a bit of ring rust for me that will be shaken
off with some game time and training together.
Isaac Shaw had a blinding game and really stepped up when the
side needed someone. He was and is completely class! Ellis had a
great game as did Travis, Mitchell and Jackson. Travis really
makes some yards and has filled in that Jamie Cooke, direct
running role exceptionally well. His experience in the back row
shows in the breakdown. Isaac was my man of the match but the
team really stuck at it and deserved the win.
Well done Roth. Tough game but we toughed it out, got the win
and are left with some room to grow. Probably being biased but I
do think the scoreline flattered Tonbridge, we were more
dominant than it looked we just have some errors to iron out. I
think the break will do the lads wonders to be fresh for this
next block of games which will be very difficult!

Agree with pretty much everything you posted, CG. Think we
gifted them 3 tries when we had the ball; the other one, they
scored from their own possession. 3 or 4 tries went begging in
the first half through knock-ons. Maybe 50 - 7 would have
reflected the game rather than nil?
Isaac, Travis and Ellis were awesome.
Kicking in the first half was below expectations - at least 3
went 5 yards too far. Second half, much better; I think three
tries came as a direct result of territory gained by kicks.
Great to get a 5-point win against Juddians, especially after
their recent results.

Completely agree with isaac shaw such a pleasure to watch him.
He got my man of rne match with Travis Gordon a close 2nd. Still
plenty to improve on but was nice to get back to winning ways
especially with a 5 point win. A nice well earned rest now for
the lads so time to relax and hopefully get some of the injured
lads back fit cos it looks on paper a very tough month next
month

I have just had the pleasure of watching the third half, and
what a great pleasure it was to see Chris Johnson, our Captain
from our Premiership days.
I recall many away trips stood in clubhouses around the country
with his Dad, Alan.
Those were the best sporting days I ever had in any sport and it
was a real privilege to watch Chris and the rest of that great
team all those years ago.
He is right of course. It is a great club and the fact that such
a great player payed tribute to how great it is, was something
really special.
Thank you for the memories Chris.
