       Rosslyn Park game
   DIR By: Rothman2

Just wondering how confident everyone is about Saturdays’ game?
Unlike last weekend, it seems that the weather isn’t going to
influence things, with only a gentle breeze with sunny intervals
and zero chance of rain as per the forecast on my weather app.
       Would appreciate your comments.

I think the fact we're at home will give us the edge though
it'll be tough, I think the other positive factor will be our
       strength off the bench?

Well, we know Charlie Mulchrone will be a threat, and he does
not always start. so the other 9 must be pretty handy as well.
I don't know a lot about the others in their squad; maybe
       somebody else does?
I think we may have more confidence in our expectations after
the game. What we do know is that the lads will give it their
all and there will be a plan.

The results so far suggest a close battle. We beat them first up
last season at home but they thrashed us away. I think we have
more attacking threats this season and plenty of exeprience so
hopefully the shed can be the difference. A 5 pointer would be
amazing but I would be happy just to get another win. I am
looking forward to the team selection this time round. Hopefully
Bustin is back in the mix.

       KEY THREATS
       ———————
It’s easy to say the whole team but I’ve picked a few out,
including one we know very well.
       • Luke Mehson (Fullback/Wing) – 7 tries in 5 games, Premiership
pedigree (Wasps, Exeter), lethal on counter-attack and broken
play. Tall (6’ 3”) rangy, and deceptively fast — a
       momentum-shifter Roth must contain.
       • Charlie Walker (Wing) – Experienced finisher, sharp lines,
       dangerous in space.
       • Benji Marfo (Wing) – High-ball specialist, strong in contact,
       punishes loose kicks.
       • Steffan James (Fly-Half) – Controls tempo, accurate boot,
       ex-Cambridge promotion winner.
       • Arthur Ellis (Captain, Back Row) – 128 caps, relentless work
       rate, leads by example.
       • Ewan Fenley (Scrum-Half) – Sharp service, links well with
       backline.
       • Jack Digby (Back Row) – Ex-Ealing and Doncaster, brings
       Championship-level physicality.
and I’ve left one of ex Championship players until last and
worthy of a little biography on his own……..
introducing the one and only :
       CHARLIE MULCHRONE
       Playing Career Highlights
       • Born: 14 May 1989, Manchester

       • Early Clubs: Wilmslow RUFC, Macclesfield RUFC

       • Known for sharp service, leadership, and tenacity
       • Worcester Warriors (2014–2016):• Played 42 games.
       • Developed into a reliable Premiership-level half-back
       • Harlequins (2016–2020):• Made 27 appearances,
       • Named vice-captain in the Anglo-Welsh Cup
       • Retired midway through the 2019/20 season
       Coaching Career

       • Stepped down in May 2023 to pursue a career outside rugby
       Personal Notes

Thanks for all of that, Rothman; shows how tough it could be on
       Saturday.
The thing I remember most about Charlie was his effectiveness at
       quick-tap penalties.

From the Yorkshire Post: "Biljon, who has a few more injuries to
contend with for this week’s game than he would like." Good job
we've got strength in depth this season, fingers crossed.

We have a strong squad and I think we will win a close and hard
fought game. The shed will play its part.

Time for a Churchillian rallying call:
WE SHALL NOT YIELD — SHED-SIDE VERSION
Rosslyn Park reckon they’ll stroll into Clifton Lane and take
       the points.
They’ve got form. They’ve got flair.
But they haven’t got the ROTH factor.
       We’ll attack in the midfield,
       We’ll defend in the trenches,
We’ll scrummage like thunder and chase kicks like hounds.
We’ll hold Clifton Lane — boots laced, heads high, hearts full.
We shall not yield in the tackle,
We shall not break at the scrum,
We shall not flinch when the line’s under siege.
We shall never surrender — not to Park, not to pressure, not to
       anyone.
And if, which we do not for a moment believe,
They think Roth will roll over,
Then let them hear us from the Shed:
“This was our finest hour — and we’re just getting started.”

I think we get the job done today. We have a great squad and
home advantage. We have won something like out 31/32 of our last
home games. Fortress Clifton Lane to prevail once again!
