       Poor starts for our Neighbours

Who'd have thought it, after the promise of last season and
being tipped to be up near the top this season, Doncaster are in
10th and Leeds are 12th. I know its still a long way to go,
but once the "Rot" starts to set in, has we well know, its a
hard slog to change things. Doncaster W2 L4, and Leeds W1
L5, is not what was expected of these teams.
I think that Doncaster will turn the corner soon and start to
win more games, I certainly hope so.
With Leeds I'm not so sure, their backers have stated that they
have invested Six Million Pounds in the club so far and will be
investing more. With results so far, its doesn't look like much
has been spent on Team Building. A huge amount of money has
been spent on re-developing Headingley and I wonder how much of
that has been paid by the Union Side.
I read today that the Club are to bring in a 'number' of Players
from the Southern Hemisphere. They will play them in the
Championship Cup games to prepare them (the clubs words) for the
following League Games. I would assume that it will cost a lot
of money to bring these players in. It didn't say how many were
coming, but if current Leeds players are 'dropped' to make way
for them, what will that do for moral. If they don't make an
immediate impact in the League, this move could have the
opposite effect to the one that the Club expects.
Leeds have a few players out injured, but when you consider the
Wafer thin squad that they signed, they only have themselves to
blame for the Car Crash situation they find themselves in.

Some interesting results in our league too, with 5 of the top 6
       teams losing.
Who would have thought, a couple of weeks ago trudging away from
Billesley Common, that we would be only 4 points behind the
       leaders at this stage?

It certainly wouldn't have helped Donny Clive Griffith's having
his health issues when he did. I really hope they pick up soon.

I don't like saying this but Yorkshire Carnegie need to stay up
along side Donny to keep Yorkshire in the sights of the RFU. We
can produce world class rugby player up here but we also need
top flight teams as well so the RFU do not forget about us.
