Coventry took Irish pretty close - maybe that puts the Leeds v
Irish score in perspective?

Have to say that Irish Coventry result was a strange one. I
suspect they will go undefeated. Coventry won’t be in the dog
fight by the looks of it. Leeds survival is based on how they do
against other struggling teams. I hope they stay up we don’t
want all yorkshire rugby declining - there needs to be a
challenge for top flight from somewhere. It will be a while, if
ever, that we challenge there - but we need somebody to. However
finance again.

Jim, I agree with what you say regarding having Yorkshire Clubs
as high up in the League system as possible, but there is
something inherently wrong within the Club. As I mentioned in
an earlier post, the Leeds Board have stated that they have
already spent over Six Million pounds, but not said on what it's
been spent. To have the best training facilities and to play
on a top class pitch, in front of a lovely new stand, is
fantastic (all owned by the Rhinos ) but the priority for any
Club is to have a Strong playing squad.
Leeds lost some very good players in the close season, but don't
seem to have replaced them with equal, or better, quality
players.
The Leeds team of last season may well have lost to the Irish
yesterday, but they wouldn't have been humiliated.
All the Bravado of the last couple of season's regarding them
being Yorkshires top Club and the only one capable of survival
in the Premiership, seems to have blown up in their face's.
I have never been a supporter of Leeds, nor will I be, but I
would not want to see them be anything but successful. Maybe
the 8 Southern Hemisphere Players they are bringing in next
month will make a difference and help them to climb up the
table, I hope so.
These players will probably only be with them for this season
and could well cause a degree of animosity among the current
players who will be left out of the Match Day squads. I don't
know how much it will cost the Club to bring these players in,
but it won't be cheap. Will it be worth the cost, only time
and results will tell.
No matter what happens, they will have to ensure that they sign
a Strong squad for next season, success is paramount at LEEDS
RUGBY.
In the unlikely scenario that they are relegated at the end of
this season, it could/would be the end of them playing at
Headingley.
They would probably have to form a new Club and find a new
ground, what would Sir Ian make of that.

Agree they are in a mess winger and all I am saying is that this
seaso is about survival for them. Hence they need to beat the
other struggling teams. I hold Leeds no animosity. I think some
of their ‘less rugby union’ orientated fans are unpleasant. They
had a shocking business model idea of dropping the ‘Leeds’
identity and I think they are now reaping the rewards of poor
leadership off the field over a number of years. I would still
like Leeds Donny and Roth to be in Championship or higher but
that is a real long shot!

Re Winger 14 comment about 8 Southern Hemisphere players
arriving, Its a shame that the way we are playing this season we
will be unable to use the players left out on dual reg as they
won’t be as good as the players we already have !!!!!!

If I remember correctly Sir Ian wanted ring fencing when in the
premier league. I always disliked going to Leeds. As I said
previously, I’ve seen a few morgues in my time and Leeds is up
there as one of the least atmospheric. I remember going there a
few years ago. Juan Pablo has a shot at goal. The ball boy
deliberately moved up the line and started bouncing the ball
just in his field of vision. Nasty I thought.
It is not a “ proper “ club in the manner of the mighty Roth.

Leeds have just announced the signing of two New Zealanders from
the Manawatu Turbos. Fly-Half Jade Te Rure and Antonio Kiri
Kiri are expected at Headingley by the end of the month. They
have also signed Ireland U20's H00ker Dylan Donnellan from
Clontarf and Tight-Head Craig Mitchell from Newcastle.
Carnegie DOR, Chris Stirling says he's happy with the signings
and that a great deal of work has been done in the last six
months to develope the playing squad.
A great deal of work has been done to develope the playing squad
? They must have used Cowboy Builders.

The way the championship is organised this year Leeds have one
more league game before the 29/12 when they play Donny. There
are 6 Cup games in between.
