Well it was an interesting game. We started bright and well.
However they pegged us back and quickly realised their pack was
very dominant 4 rolling maul tries and we could not defend. We
matched or beat them everywhere else, however it was 4 tries to
1. We are gaining pets through penalties. Two key things pack
dominance and we struggle to punch holes to score tries. So
things to work on but an improvement.

Bit of a disappointment, especially after last week.
They scored 4 mauled tries: we scored a very attractive try. We
got a bonus point for being close, but that does not tell the
whole story.
Their mauls were set up through penalties given away,
particularly for offside, which let them play in the are where
they could maul. They could not play through us, so were gifted
the chances when we went offside.
We played more attractive rugby - they only mauled.
We could have won it about five minutes from time, but for a
puzzling decision by the ref. We were driving a scrum forward,
straight - not turning, and he gave the penalty to Moseley, I
believe for going up in the front row. Who is going to go up -
the team going forward or back? That would have put us in a
winning position with only a few minutes to go.
Having said that, the game should have been ours much earlier,
but for the penalties letting them into good positions for their
only play.
Young team and learning. This was a bit of a lesson, so let's
hope we learned it.

No locks!
We had back rowers playing lock hence the lack of grunt.
Conor looks very good so I hope his injury is minor!
On the plus side we have signed a ball carrying back rower and
hopefully another lock.

Maybe and I am a tough critic but I was encouraged. Apart from
being outmuscled in the pack - and we were, we competed well.
Working on moves will get the holes punched. Grunt is another
thing. Be heartened we will not be relegated and hopefully
consolidate a team

I’m not encouraged!
We seem to have same problems every season. Too many penalties.
Everyone scores at will against us from convertible mauls , yet
we cannot convert many at the other end. We cannot seem to
penetrate in their 22.
I’m worried that we’ll struggle all season. Last time I went to
Moseley in Championship I think they scored 4 mauling tries
against us. We won that day as we had a far better side than
them.
A lot of work needed.

The frustrating thing is that looking at the results, this
league is absolutely there for the taking. There doesn’t look to
be much difference between any of the sides, Loughborough maybe
excepted.
The flip side of that is that it could be very competitive to
avoid the relegation places....

Agree with some of the points there - but I am still encouraged.
Last year we were not at the park, getting well beat and didn’t
win for a very long time. This year we have won won, only just
lost 2, so a few points difference and we would be up there.
This season is going to be about consolidation. I think
yesterday we were a bit light in the pack compared to a bigger
well drilled pack. Yes we need to work on more moves to cut
through but I think we are going to compete around mid table and
that is the part I found encouraging. Less concerned than I was
at DMP. I can see us making mid table once we have settled.
