Statement from the club
Speculation has arisen regarding the venue for Rotherham Titans
home fixture on the 01st September 2018 versus Old Elthamians.
This fixture falls within the tenure of Rotherham Town Cricket
Club on Clifton Lane (which expires on the 09th September 2018)
The staging of this fixture on Clifton Lane also however falls
within the scope of the written agreement between Rotherham Town
Cricket Club and Rotherham Titans completed on the 02nd December
2015 and signed on the 15th December 2015.
Clause 4 of that agreement clearly states:-
‘ The changeover dates remain but Rotherham Town Cricket Club
acknowledges that Rotherham Titans may need to use the ground at
the start and end of the Rugby Playing season for League
fixtures and play-off games and that Rotherham Town Cricket Club
will accommodate this’
The agreement of the 02nd December 2015 was drafted in the
immediate aftermath of the failed court injunction application
by Rotherham Town Cricket Club against Rotherham Titans for
alleged trespass in November 2015.
The agreement goes on to determine the size and positioning of
the Cricket Square on Clifton Lane which was desired by
Rotherham Town Cricket Club.
Evidence that the agreement was subsequently enacted is by
reference to the fact that Rotherham Titans played fixtures on
Clifton Lane on the 04th September 2016 and 03rd September 2017.
Prior to the agreement, Rotherham Titans had been required to
play on Herringthorpe Playing Fields on the 05th September 2015.
Despite our agreement we have made all efforts to avoid a
‘Fixture Clash’ with Rotherham Town Cricket Club who also have a
home fixture on the 01st September 2018
This year our League Requirements are that fixtures must be
played on the Saturday of each week with kick off between 2pm
and 3pm.
We have made all efforts to re arrange our home fixture of the
01st September 2018 including reversing the fixture to the home
ground of our opponents and also seeking other alternative
suitable other venues.
Regretfully this has not been possible and we are left with no
alternative but to rely upon the agreement made with the
Rotherham Town Cricket Club on the 02nd December 2015.
We therefore confirm that our Fixture against Old Elthamians
will be hosted on Clifton Lane with a kick off time of 2pm.

I’d camp out on the ground. Possession is nine points of the
law. V

According to cricket club, Caldy, who play in Division 1, are
playing their game on Sunday as they share a ground with a
cricket club. How have they managed this?
