Exciting game and we played well. At the start of the season I
would have taken won 3 lost 1 out of the first 4 games all day
long. However, and I admit my bias, I thought the ref was very
poor and particularly so at the scrum. The last breakdown I
thought should have been a penalty to us. But I am happy to be
corrected. I thought our game management towards the end could
have been better and that long kick (when I think we should have
kept the ball) that went.over the line so scrum back was very
costly. Overall though an enjoyable visit to Sale.

So, the better team does not always win.
Think you are correct about the last breakdown (which led to
their winning try in injury time). We had a man, on his feet,
with his hands under the ball and the pen went to them. The ref,
I believe, gave held up when they mauled it over the line. He
was advised by the touch judge ( who had just been subjected to
a torrent of swearing and abuse from the Sale technical area)
       and gave a try.
Not all that surprising that as the officials left the pitch, a
substantial number of Sale supporters were laughing and
       shouting, "Thanks Ref."
Having said that, the lads were exceptional. It certainly showed
that we were more than a match for teams at the top end of this
       league. Well done all.

Agree with all you say setter. I think we were on the wrong g
end of a few very curious scrum designs also. However, I am
happy to be corrected by those who understand scrums more than I
       do.

I thought that team was very unfortunate not to leave Sale FC
without securing the win. In my opinion the players were
superior in the scrums, lineouts and dominated the field
positionwith most of the game taking place in their defensive
half. The only time this changed was in the final 7 minutes of
the game. Unfortunately we were unable to score tries when we
were deep in their half. I like others were slightly surprised
when we were so dominant in the scrum that leading up to the
final play the referee gave them a scrum penalty. I also felt
that despite the scrum dominance the fact Zac wasn’t playing
affected us at times. When big John moved to the second row it
took the pack some time to reassert themselves. I also thought
Jack Townend had a good game at full back but Ronnie du Randt
playing on the wing was not as effective as he has been at full
       back.
