Yeah he was definitely there just wasn't wearing his titans gear
like the rest of the squad who weren't playing.I think he'll get
his chance to show what he can do at this level but for me it's
tough with how good du randt has played in the 2 home games.

I’d be very surprised if he doesn’t start on Wednesday evening
against Sheffield. It’ll be very interesting to see who else
plays and how they state a claim for a starting position in the
first team.

I know we can trust in HB, I just hope that because we have
quite a few injuries, that we don't have to risk many of the
regular players in the friendlies.

Injury report v Esher 24.25
Good afternoon and welcome to Clifton Lane for today’s game
against Esher. Doc and I were reflecting last week that it was
Christmas last year before we had any significant injuries to
deal with. What a difference a year makes!
So far this season we have had to send 4 players for
consultations with our friendly Orthopaedic colleagues. Three
have been to see Alex Anderson, knee specialist of this parish
and one player has been to see David Potter our shoulder
specialist. It has been a mixed bag of reports back, fortunately
some of the news has been slightly better than we anticipated.
Frankie Gascoigne has been progressing well with his shoulder
injury (a rotator cuff tear). He had (albeit briefly) returned
to full training but suffered a bit of a setback so he was seen
and scanned by DP who suggested that it was a tear to the
rotator cuff and that a few more weeks of rehab will see him
right, so with a minor tweak to his programme we expect him back
in the next 4-5 weeks.
In the Chinese calendar it is the Year of the Dragon, in the
Rotherham Titans calendar it seems it is the Year of the Knee!!!
Joe Mounsey suffered a knee injury in the first game of the
season. When we visited him on the pitch, he told us he had
‘dislocated his kneecap’. I suspected worse and sent him off to
the emergency department and our concerns were confirmed in that
he had ruptured his patella tendon. He had this wired back
together earlier this week and will be out of action for quite
some time……………so far, he is leading the most time on the physio
bed in the season prediction charts.
Travis Gordon also suffered a knee injury in the same game as
Joe. The close-up video of his injury is not for the faint
hearted! We arranged a scan last Monday and with some brilliant
service from the Canon Medical Arena at the Olympic Legacy Park
in Sheffield the scan was arranged at 9.30am, undertaken at
11.00am and the report was on my desk at 12.30….fantastic
service indeed, and a passport to Alex Anderson! The scan
revealed a significant posterolateral corner injury (the soft
tissues of the outside/back corner of the knee). These are
treated in two ways. They can be repaired surgically, often
requiring more than one operation to repair the various bits and
pieces, or they can be braced for a period of time and then
rehabbed. The decision as to which route is followed is
determined by the surgeon once he has ‘ragged the knee about a
bit’ though he would describe it as a thorough clinical
examination. Late on Friday afternoon I received a call from
Alex to say that he was happy to follow the non-operative
pathway. That was the best news of the week and whilst it means
Travis will be out of action for quite some time it is a
considerably shorter period than if he had had to have his knee
operated on. Internally we have a time frame, but it is too
early to share that with you…….so please don’t ask in the bar!
Harry Gilson-Fox dislocated his kneecap in the pre-season game
against Durham and is progressing well but still a few weeks
away from returning to playing.
John Okafor suffered a knock in training so was unavailable for
Saturday’s game at Darlington, but we expect him to be available
for this week’s game.
Harvey has arranged some midweek games which will allow us to
reintegrate some of the other players who have been out with
injury back into the team environment. There is a rumour that
our most long-term resident of the medical room may even make an
appearance……. keep your fingers crossed!
Let’s hope for an injury free entertaining game this
afternoon……we are running out of bed space in the medical
room…….

Perhaps we could as a club invite them to hospitality table?
Some of the VP's would be happy to pitch in costs wise.
The Prince in me says cheap at half the price to be on very good
terms with medics

Southerngit you will be pleased to hear that we are a step ahead
of you on that one! They have attended matches both in
hospitality and as spectators.
One of them attended the end of season dinner as our guest a
couple of years ago, I shan’t name which one to save his blushes
but he did have the audacity to win £50 on one round of the
heads and tails……..I still bring it up occasionally!
