They've issued a statement:
Press Statement | Doncaster Knights, RFU & The Premiership
20th March 2024
A statement has been made from the RFU with regards to Doncaster
Knights, meeting and passing the Minimum Standards Criteria,
regarding eligibility for promotion into the top tier of English
Rugby, the Premiership.
Doncaster Knights has met the Minimum Standards Criteria (MSC)
and is therefore eligible for promotion to then Gallagher
Premiership. Promotion is subject to coming top of the
Championship league at the end of the season and then winning a
two-legged home and away play-off against the club finishing
bottom of the Gallagher Premiership Rugby table.
Doncaster Knights was the only Championship club to apply to for
a MSC audit and is therefore the only club eligible for
promotion.

.......Why do they have to play the bottom club from the
Premiership, why not just promote them?? Utter tosh.

The whole thing is a farce for me.
The Prem nearly killed us as a club, it has destroyed Jersey,
London Welsh, Worcester, Irish and Wasps. Newcastle are on the
brink. Full time rugby has killed Wakefield and Orrell, two
superb clubs who we had many great games against.
If you win the Championship you should get promotion. Thats how
leagued sports should work. A meritocracy. Jersey deserved their
shot. The extremely selfish silver lining being we gained the
experience of Harvey Biljon, but novelties aside it is gutting
to see what happened to Jersey. They moved up the leagues, as we
did, and won tier 2. Even if they got pasted every game they
should have had their chance to play up their against the top
sides in the country. It is despicable, almost criminal really.
I think there should be
One pro league of 12 teams - The Premiership
A mixed league of 12 to 14 Semi Pro and Pro teams - The
Championship
National 1 North + National 1 South - 14 to 16 teams each
National 2 North + National 2 South - 14 to 16 teams each
Just my penny's worth.
