Good game today and some great performances. Thought Harry
Newborne was outstanding. Dunny played really well Lloyd won
the battle well. But to be honest I thought the team were spot
on. A few rusty moments early in the game but other thN that an
exciting performance.

Full credit to Sheffield Tigers who kept battling to the end. I
thought they were fortunate not to have more players yellow
carded as they continually gave away penalties for the same
offences.

In the first 15 / 20 mins I thought that the game was very close
and I feared that it may continue like that as neither Team
could get the upper hand. It didn't settle my nerves when we
scored our first Try after 27 mins, the Conversion put us 7 - 0
up. We were struggling for cohesion, we had some good moves
going forwards but threw the chances away with either throwing
sloppy passes or not passing the ball quick enough. Tigers
kicked a Penalty Goal and we went in at Half-time 7 - 3 up.
This didn't give me any good vibes for what the Second-half
might bring. Thankfully the Lads upped their game and started
to get the upper hand. In the First-Half we gave too many
Penalties away and too many decisions went against us, not the
Refs fault has I think he ran the game well, I thought that he
harshly penalised us on three occasions but he's the Ref and we
have to accept his decisions. A big bonus for us was that more
decisions started to go in our favour, our Forwards took
command of the up-front battle and put in a very good showing,
our Backs started to break Tigers line more, it was becoming a
very good all-round performance.
It took 27 mins of the First-Half for us to score our first Try,
but we scored four Try's in a 27 mins period in the
Second-Half. Lloyd converted all our Try's with a personal pts
tally for the game of 15 pts. The finishing score of 35 - 17
was a very welcome and satisfying result.
My Man of the Match was Harry Newborn, he's been away for a
long time and it's a big bonus for us that he is back.
No one can predict the future, but here goes ------- a Win +
Bonus against Lymm (A), a Win + Bonus against Huddersfield (A
), a Win + Bonus against Tynedale ( A )

I've just read a report on Saturdays game, it shows that Curtis
Wilson was on the Tigers bench, maybe my eyesight is not what
it used to be but I didn't see him come onto the Field. DID HE
?

The Tigers team in the report in the Rugby Paper ( by the
reporter from the Advertiser, who I presume was at the game )
had him starting on the Wing ?
Maybe he was in Disguise.

I was surprised( and slightly relieved!) to see Curtis on the
bench on Saturday. In his post, prior to the game, Rucko gave
Curtis as starting at 14. Given that the player who replaced him
was wearing 18, I think, it seems likely that Curtis picked up
an injury during the warm-up and still had the 14 shirt on?
Great result for the lads, especially after last year's result.
Good all round team performance. Defence looked strong. Tigers
didn't look like scoring until the last few minutes, when it was
all over.
Well done all.
