The refs performance was the only thing I was disappointed with
today.

Over the Full game I believe that Sedgley just about deserved to
Win, Looking at Sedgley's record before the game we knew it was
going to be a tough game for us.
I thought that our Lads stood up to them very well and at times
bettered them. Our Forwards to a Man had very good games and
were never bossed by them, and I agree with setter regarding our
Line-Out, Excellent. Our Backs put some good moves together but
we couldn't break their Line often enough. With a bit of luck,
and better passes made we could have scored another couple of
Try's. We put in lots of effort and didn't deserve to Lose by
18 pts.
Sedgley had a good all-round game and we could see why they are
Top of the Table. We did put in some good Tackles but far to
often we let them run through us by Flapping at Tackles instead
of putting our Full Bodies into them.
Regarding THAT TRY ? from where I was standing at the Back of
the Shed it looked like the Ball had gone Dead. There were No
officials anywhere near, so has no official could see the
incident clearly and with no TV replay to refer to, the Ref
should have awarded the Decision to the Defending Team. That is
general practice.
Our player and the Sedgley player went to the ground together,
but it was the Sedgley player who got up the quicker, he picked
the Ball up, held it in the air and started shouting what
sounded to me " It's a Try ". The rest of the Sedgley players
ran to him and were jumping up and down and congratulating him.
Non of these players could have seen what had happened. In my
opinion the Ref ' WAS SWAYED BY THE SEDGLEY PLAYERS ACTIONS '.
I hope that the Referees Assesser made a note of this.
While I'm on a Rant ----- throughout the whole of the first-half
the Sedgley players were creeping Off-Side at every Break Down
but Non Once did the Linesman in front of the Shed flag them for
Off-Side. In the Second-half, on the other side of the field he
noticed our Lads Offside on at least 2 / 3 times.
In todays programme I noted Dave Swifts comments.
" During our game over at Sedgley Park one of our players went
into a tackle and was clattered by a Sedgley Player. After Doc
and I had thoroughly assessed him on the pitch we were highly
confident he had not sustained a Head Injurie. However as some
of their players were shouting (quite frankly, unhelpful
nonsense ) at the Referee, he decided that despite our
experience in this field he would not allow our player to
continue". WAS THE REFEREE SWAYED BY THE SEDGLEY PLAYERS
ACTIONS. ?
Can we assume from these two incidents that Sedgley might have
Some Form with these actions. It makes you wonder ?.

I hope not winger as I would hate to see gamesmanship creeping
into our our sport. I have to say that the officiating, at a few
of the games I have seen this year, has been less than you
would expect for National league level.

I was near the front of the shed. In the first half several
supporters, politely, asked the touch judge whether we were
actually playing offside in the game, from what I heard his
initial response was 'no', followed by a suggestion that we
should read the rule book to understand the offside rule. So in
his opinion Sedgeley weren't offside, it was the same touch
judge who then gave us offside in the 2nd half.

I honestly think that the "banter" sometimes directed at the
officials from the shed has a negative effect on their
application of the laws of the game when it comes to the home
side.
It shouldn't do, but looks like this was another instance of it
happening....

Can't help wondering if the touch judge was the same guy we had
away at Otley. Not sure how to find out.
