You know i always wondered why they never made a "evo" version
of their bigger cars like the galant or diamante. But i guess
they did do it for the galant...

Well, in the 90's it was all about the AWD 4g63 eclipse that
would put out 6 sec 1/4 miles with trap speeds of close to
200mph. Galant actually did have a race car back then as well,
but it didn't hold a candle to the eclipse. Evo's ofcourse were
meant for street use and track courses rather than drag racing,
but coming with a 4G63 made other options possible due to how
aggressive these motors are if built property. There are 4G63's
today capable of holding 1500hp at the crank, which is why tons
of people were ****ed when Mitsu went to the 4B11T all aluminum
motors. A stock 4G63 motor can easily hold up to a little under
500whp no problem, where the 4B11T caps out at 400whp/wtq. To
handle more power with the 4G63 all you need is pistons, rods
and cams. 4B11T requires cams (first), pistons, rods, sleeved
block and has to be shipped off to NASA so they can make sure it
doesn't explode and cause a nuclear holocaust :P
It's ridiculous how well X's handle on the track, even stock
ones can keep up with super cars effortlessly. The SST tranny
ALWAYS keeps the car in spooling range, so the turbo is always
pushing power constantly without you have to worry about down
shifting at the right time and you can focus more on braking and
hitting corners, but when it comes to drag racing them, they
have yet to put out a favorable 1/4 mile. Fastest GSR puts down
a low 9, while the fastest MR can only put out a low 11 (both
being on huge aftermarket turbos and weight reductions). The X
models are just too heavy for a drag race. I test drove a MR
last month which had the same exact whp/wtq as mine just to see
if I wanted to explore getting one eventually. The WOT was
slower and it felt like I was trying to push a cow, however,
handling was something I can't put it words, even at high
speeds, and I managed 80 mph on the clover entrance to a highway
no problem. People in NTEC tell me to get an Evo 9 all the
time, but I'd rather just pay this one off until the Evo XI
comes out in 2014. Turbo Diesel engine with an electric motor to
help you get off the line :o

Oh yeah angel, if my memory serves me right, the diamante is a
lancer, except its the FWD base model version of the evo 6 and
       7. Ive seen threads of guys doing diamante conversions to and
       evo 6

Holy crap that eclipse was fast!!!! Lol
and that 2014 evo sounds pretty interesting . But diesel? :/
       Tgats just sounds weird.
and really i really didnt think tgat the diamante was a lancer
at all. Its like 3 times bigger and so much more luxurious than
it. It seems like a completely defferent car...

They did. The Galant VR4. We didn't get the 7th or 8th gen
based VR4s models of such, but the 6th Gen Galant based VR4 did
make it to the states. I have a buddy back up in Mid Mo with
two...well, one and a half. A real deal Galant VR4 that has a
few bolt ons, and then one that we built starting with a Galant
GSX and a bad framed Galant VR4 by swapping over the 4G63, drive
train, and interior and some other parts. The real deal one he
doesn't do too much to trying to keep the value up, but last
time I talked to him the the VR4 and a half was being turned
into a straight up track only job.
