Likely ordering new HRE's for the Pana, tired of messing with
these Modulares. Mara is in the shop getting the 100k service
done, valve adjustment and vanos bolts and seals... likely won't
see her for a few more days. Don't want to think about the bill,
going to need to get drunk before I write that check. QQ
O darn I have to drive my parents Cayenne, what is coming of
this world when a man has to drive a 550hp SUV everywhere!? !!?
Woe is me... Woe. woe is me.
       [/quote]
Was VANOS on its way out or just doing preventative on it? No
Dr. VANOS or Besian? HREs are nommy...and I wish I had a 550hp
SUV to drive around in till my AC gets fixed, lol.

I'm like 1,500 miles away from 100k, and I have become paranoid
about it because of all the threads on e46F about it lately.
Just doing bolts and seals, Autoscope said the sprockets looked
       ok with no cracks.
Also getting a valve adjustment, all the fluids etc. My brembo
dreams will have to go on hold, as the wheels and this are going
to hollow out my toy fund for the next few months haha.

Gotcha. I'm not all that concerned with VANOS issues on my
imaginary M3 - only because it doesn't look like any of the
fixes for it are super hard, just time consuming. But those are
famous last words. The threads I've been watching on E46F are
the SMG failures. I really, really want the SMG, but with what
I read on them, I may be leaning more towards a DIY cog swapper.
The funny thing is, I think most M3s are going to suffer from a
VANOS issue, while the SMG is a small population making a big
       noise.
What HREs are you going for on the P-Car?

The Vanos job takes around 1k in BMW tools to do, you can
normally borrow them from a dealer if you ask nicely. Scott
rebuilt his once, and said he wouldn't again. It is very time
consuming and detail oriented work, being one tooth off when you
put it back together and your motor goes sorta thing. The
biggest thing with the Vanos is that if it does go before you
get to it, the top end of your motor generally goes with it. At
least with the SMG pump you just replace one part, an expensive
       part... but not your motor.
My parents have been in Dallas for a month or two now, and my
Dad purloined the Pana as all his toys are moved to Houston and
the new NC house they are building, so I haven't been able to
       drive it in awhile haha.
I love the modulares, but they need new barrels, and are going
to take a LONG time to rebuild as they in essence have to remake
them. So I am just going to get another set.
Looking at the P40L atm I think. Not final on the color, may end
up doing a satin color match again like the ones I have now, or
doing the matte black.. or something else.
I need to stop looking at this new Vorsteiner kit...

As long as the rain stays away, I will have the M at the meet
tonight, perhaps for the last time. Depends how long it takes me
to clean it up and get it ready to sell.

There were like 6 of us there. We all went down to eat at
snuffers and when we got back up there no one else had showed so
we all left. Next week should be better, hopefully it doesn't
rain. (Well I wish it would rain more... just not on sunday
       haha)
