Im bias since I own an evo, but both are great cars. I was
steered away from the STi because of all the problems that I've
seen them have.

Well... I got friends with STi's and I have an Evo... I'm the
only one who doesn't have a spare engine laying around for when
the current fails.

as for the new models the sti looks better and performs better
but as for the older models its a toss up the sti still looks
better but the 4g63 has been proven more times than the ej20
even though the ej is a good engine in its own right

sti's dont normally have problems, so the ones you know about
are piles of shit. Evo's are like the only 30k$+ car that didnt
come with cruise control lol. if you want to be fast get an evo,
they are 1/2 the price to mod and make reliable efficient power
easily. They will always be faster then sti's. Theyve had 20yrs
to make that engine efficient as hell. The drivetrain like all
mitsubishis blows. If you dont care to run faster then 12's and
350-380whp get the sti. Sti's never make alot of power without a
huge amount of money invested. even so theres only a handful of
600whp+ running around. Boxter engines are just goofy, they make
good torque but cant compete with the 1000's of 800whp evos.
Ive owned 2 sti's and never had any problems with them. I
roadcoursed the shit out of one numorous times and never had a
problem. Sti's hold there value alot better, and evo's tend to
attract the x dsm crowd which are known for being terrible
mechanics and cheap asses, but then again stis attract those
kind too. the sti drivetrain is also bullet proof. for some
reason the subaru crowd seems to be a weird bunch that are so
damn anal about there car you'd think it was a veyron so mint
condition cars are all over the place.
bottom line. You want to be fast get an evo. Want a great car
get an sti w/ exhaust,accessport be done.

haha nice!! I like your insight.
I agree, Evo for straight line and will always be faster. Hell,
quickest and fastest 4 cylinder in the world is 4g63 (Brent Rau,
4g63 RWD converted 2g eclipse).
But I am a Subaru man for sure... I'd rather have a 90s 2.5RS
than a new Evo.....
I can't wait to be a Subaru owner.
