Tucancharged/supercharged cars isn't something you can just buy
used. Most the time they've been driven so hard who knows when
it just might up and throw a piston. Plus its an evo, so you
should expect it was previously modded, may still have the
aftermarket or stock flywheel/ clutch which usually goes out
everything 10k-20k miles (barely a hand full of flywheels for
the X is worth buying). Good flywheels run close to $2k. The
install is over $1k. X's are crazy expensive on maintenance and
upgrades. Ralliart is just as expensive, except you don't have
to replace brembos and a clutch wheel constantly and the
insurance is way cheaper. Instead its the endeavor/outlander
brakes, but I recommend upgrading them.

Thats the good thing about Warranties though. If your buying an
Evo used you will still have a good warranty left.

Actually all those things classify as wear and tear items.
Therefore its an out of pocket expense

I mean say piston or Turbo Failure. If they sell you a used car
and something like that goes out, I wouldnt see that as a wear
and tear problem. Now a new clutch etc, then yeah wear and tear
       for sure

This is all just sorta wrong...
You need to do your due diligence getting a PPI done before any
car purchase, but evo's are damn reliable cars compared to many
       sports cars.
Just because we are part of the modifying culture, in reality
90% of the evos out there are still stock.
A clutch if you have any idea of how to drive, even on a
modified car will last 100k or more miles of daily driving. Even
on my modified STI with many track days, and AutoX's my clutch
went for almost 70k miles, and only went after I helped it go
after a day at the drags.
I have never had to replace a flywheel in any car I have owned,
and in most cases they can be resurfaced when you put in a new
clutch for much much much less than a new one.
A full brake service for an evo is like 600 bucks or less, and
that's only if you are replacing rotors as well, which unless
they get warped can also be resurfaced instead of replaced.
Compare that to my M3 or LOL my Pana, and you will see how much
of a bargain you are working with.
If you are buying used, buying an EVO or STI will almost always
end up cheaper then buying a base model and upgrading it to the
same level, and almost every time you will end up with a less
reliable car that still isn't as good as the real thing in every
category other than the HP number.
If your STOCK vehicle is still under the manufacturers warranty
and you drop a piston or the turbo goes, that would be replaced
under warranty if you were not at fault, keep in mind that this
almost never happens on a stock car.

There's nothing wrong about any of it.
I'm basing what I say from what I've seen countless times in
NTEC (North Texas Evo Club) and on the EvoM/EvoX forums. The
EvoX clutch is known to go out after 10-20k miles. My friend
who has a GSR had to replace his clutch after 7k miles. He's
running an SSP aftermarket clutch now at 16k miles and he said
he notices it needs to be replaced again. Mitsubishi told me
this amount other items is not covered under warranty. Evo X
tires are only good for 10k-15k miles. The stock tires new run
$250-$350 a tire (Yokohama Advans Sport)
The brakes/rotors/calibers are actually much much more expensive
than just $600. The full set is $3000. Some people who do Road
Race courses find themselves getting new brakes every 1-2
months. These people are running FP Red and Blacks, which are
the two biggest stock appearing turbos on the market.
Alot of MR and Ralliarts get an unlucky SST tranny that doesn't
last over 20k miles. Luckily these are under warranty
sometimes. This is a $12k tranny we're talking about.
Keep in mind, ALOT of people are selling their Evo X for an Evo
9 for many of these reasons. The STI and EVO are two awesome
cars, however, they each have completely separate flaws when
comparing the Evo X to an Evo 9 or STI. Plus these aren't cars
anyone would keep stock. Most cars that are kept stock are
usually N/A cars, economy cars, or servicing vehicles.
The biggest known flow on the new Lancer model is people who run
CAI. The CAI runs deep in the front driver side bumper. It is
known to take away cold air from the radiator and suck up water
from the ground, which blows the motor. Evolution Dynamics over
in Lewisville had quite a few of these cars in their shop due to
       this issue.

Well, I haven't seen any piston issues on a stock EVO/RA,
however, a guy running an FP Green had to pay out of pocket due
to a piston issue. Here's the link to the topic:

Scary for sure. Just hard to tell through forums on there real
driving habits, boost etc. they can always tweak the truth to
make it seem more of an ??? ??? ??? When they might know what
       really was going on.
       You know

       E85 tune done:
       375awhp/403awtq at 26 psi
Same psi as the 93 octane tune.
This is not the same car I bought...
